Monday Ratings: Al Sharpton Follows His SNL Lampooning With A Nice Boost

Perhaps it was a boost from Saturday Night Live lampooning his show and curiosity-seekers tuning in to see what it was all about — or maybe it was simply just his turn to rise up in the ratings — but Al Sharpton tied for MSNBC’s ratings lead on Monday night in the 25-54 year old demo, pulling in 191,000 viewers at his 6 p.m. time slot. Ed Schultz, who goes on air at 8 p.m., tied Sharpton’s demo numbers (while beating him in the overall ratings, 877,000 to 830,000).

Other nuggets from Monday night:

  • On the flip side of MSNBC’s fortunes was Rachel Maddow, who had a relatively weak night, drawing 132,000 demo viewers. This allowed Piers Morgan to take second place in the time slot, with 161,000 in the demo.
  • Nancy Grace continued her strong run, leading HLN’s slate and attracting 204,000 demo viewers at 8p.m.
  • On Friday it was Bret Baier, and Monday it was The Five, pulling into third place overall in the ratings behind Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity.
  • Greta Van Susteren attracted 315,000 demo viewers and 1,440,000 overall.
