Nancy Mace Lashes Out at ‘Sexist,’ ‘Radical Left’ CNN Panel After Brutal Segment Went Off the Rails
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) rewarded herself with a cup of coffee Friday morning while flexing that she’d taken on the “Radical Left” by failing to pronounce Democratic nominee Kamala Harris’s name correctly and refusing to denounce former President Donald Trump’s comments about Harris’s race.
In two posts to X, formerly Twitter, one from her personal account and one from her official congressional account, Mace went off on the “unhinged, sexist, left-winged radicals” she’d sat with on a CNN panel the night before, whom she blasted for being “hyperfixated” on her refusal to pronounce “Kamala” correctly.
During the disastrous segment, which Mace is promoting as a win, the panel collapsed into argument as the Republican lawmaker ignited chaos by repeatedly mispronouncing Harris’s first name. Democratic strategist Keith Boykin began with the pushback after Mace’s failure to say the name correctly several times as he mocked: “You had it right. You almost got it.”
Mace shot back: “I will say Kamala’s name any way that I want to.”
Host Abby Phillip struggled to maintain control as other panelists protested Mace’s mispronunciation as disrespectful.
Later in the conversation, when Phillip discussed Trump’s claim that Harris “turned Black” during a National Association of Black Journalists event, Mace came under fire again for refusing to denounce the former president’s comments, to the disbelief of other panelists.
Phillip interrupted, speaking directly to Mace, and said: “This doesn’t take that much courage, honestly, to just say that was out of bounds.”
The congresswoman repeated that she did not know what he’d said as the host quoted Trump’s remarks back to her, again, urging the Republican to admit that the attack was “out of bounds.”
As Mace stuttered, other panelists urged her on: “Just say yes!”
On her refusal, as the host tried to end the segment, discussion blazed on as Boykin could be heard accusing Mace of being in a “cult” over her refusal to criticize her party leader.
