Kellyanne Conway Reportedly Forgot She Was On Record With Reporter and Trashed Colleagues
A new book includes explosive allegations against White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway — who is reportedly considering taking on the role of White House communications director — claiming she’s President Donald Trump’s “number one leaker” to the press.
New York Times bestselling author Ronald Kessler’s said his forthcoming book, The Trump White House: Changing the Rules of the Game, has a number of “juicy tidbits” in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday. Among those include Conway’s apparent inability to maintain on-record conversations with reporters, often slipping into a candid, unabashed critic of her colleagues in the administration.
“While I was interviewing Kellyanne at the White House, she forgot that she was on the record and she started lashing into Reince Priebus,” Kessler said Sunday. “She said the most mean, cutting and honestly untrue things about Reince and I didn’t even include them in the book because they were so unfair.”
Kessler’s accusations aren’t the first to paint Conway in an unfavorable light. The hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe recounted Conway saying she needed to shower after defending Trump along the 2016 campaign trail. “She would get off the air, the camera would be turned off, the microphone would be taken off, and she would say ‘Blech, I need to take a shower,’ because she disliked her candidate so much,” co-host Mika Brzezinski said in May of last year.
Still, Conway has held a long tenure as one of Trump’s closest aides since the campaign and is now reportedly being considered for a promotion in the administration.
“She also let into [Jared Kushner] and [Ivanka Trump], saying that they leak against Steve Bannon, and I know that White House aides have seen texts that she has sent to other journalists dissing her colleagues and leaking material,” Kessler continued. “So if you wonder why there are so many leaks coming out of the White House, one reason is Kellyanne is the number one leaker.”
