Sarah Palin Discusses Louis C.K.’s ‘Meaningful’ SNL40 Apology on Late Night

Former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin brought up comedian Louis C.K.‘s now-famous apology to her on Monday’s Late Night with Seth Meyers.

“He tracked me down while I was there, and he happened to apologize that night for some drunk tweet that he had fired off,” she said. “I hadn’t even know that he had said something crude.”

This all happened on the set of SNL40, the 40th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live that aired in February. Louis discussed the apology on Howard Stern‘s radio show two months later in April.

“He apologized, and he said never in a million years had he been one to want to apologize to someone,” Palin added. “He’s the only [celebrity] who has ever apologized like that.”

Host Seth Meyers attributed the comedian’s apology to “the energies of that night. Everybody was sort of in it together.”

However, given the history of Louis catching crap for his Palin tweets and feeling bad-ish about it, the Louie star was probably going to apologize to Palin anyways — SNL40 or not.

In a 2011 interview with GQ magazine, Louis regretted his past comments and tweets about Palin. He echoed similar sentiments a year later on The Today Show when the hosts asked him about his Palin-specific tweets.
