Sen. Bob Corker Admits: Tax Bill May Be ‘One of The Worst Votes I’ve Made’

Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), like many Republicans, will not seek re-election in November, and so he is at liberty to say pretty much whatever he likes about the Trump administration and the Congress.

He has taken this freedom and run with it.

During a Senate Budget Committee hearing on the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate of how much the new tax bill would cost, Corker said it may be “one of the worst votes [he’s] made” if the estimate is, indeed, correct.

“I find this to be the least serious committee that I serve on,” Corker said. “This Congress and this administration likely will go down as one of the most fiscally irresponsible administrations and congresses that we’ve had.”

“One of the best votes I’ve made here was a budget control act of 2011,” he continued. “We at least capped domestic spending for a period of time.”

“You’ve talked about the cost of this tax bill, and if it ends up costing what has been laid out here, it could well be one of the worst I’ve made,” he added. “I hope that is not the case.”
