Stormy Daniels Lawyer Calls Michael Cohen ‘Beyond Stupid’ for Talking to Media Today: ‘Just Crazy’
Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing Stormy Daniels in her case against Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen, appeared on CNN today to tear into the president’s attorney as “moronic,” “ludicrous,” and “beyond stupid.”
Cohen’s decision to speak with CNN anchor Don Lemon after the FBI raided his office triggered Avenatti’s flurry of insults, as Trump’s beleaguered lawyer attempts to recover from his week filled with bad PR.
“It may be good for CNN for Michael Cohen to be speaking to Don Lemon, it’s moronic under the circumstances,” said Avenatti to Anderson Cooper. “Any experienced attorney would tell a client not to be speaking to the press the day after the FBI executes three search warrants on your homes and your offices. This is just crazy, it’s ludicrous.”
He continued by saying Cohen’s decision “is beyond stupid” and added that he doesn’t “understand what he is doing.”
“Secondly, I still cannot believe that the president made these statements on Air Force One and effectively put his own personal attorney in the crosshairs by way of those statements,” added Avenatti, who claimed the president set Cohen up as “the fall guy” in the whole scandal.
Dandiels’ lawyer continued his tirade against Cohen by saying he does not have the smarts to withstand the kind of legal pressure he’s going to be hit with amid the FBI’s investigation.
Additionally, during the AC360 interview, Avenatti’s addressed Daniels’ commitment to cooperating with officials on the case.
He also took to Twitter earlier today to explain how he plans on working with the FBI: “My client @stormydaniels and I will fully cooperate with any search for the truth regarding the threats, cover-up and lies concerning the NDA and $130k payment. Unlike others, we don’t require the presence of the fine members of the FBI in order to speak honestly.”
