Tucker Carlson Blasts the Media For Portraying Russia’s War in Ukraine as a ‘Childish Tale of Good Versus Evil’
Tucker Carlson ripped the media Thursday for supposedly oversimplifying Russia’s war against Ukraine.
It’s been six weeks since Vladimir Putin’s forces first invaded the country. Thousands are dead as both military and civilian casualties mount.
Russia is accused of committing barbaric acts against people and animals in Ukraine’s cities. Some Ukrainian soldiers have also reportedly executed Russian troops who were caught occupying their cities.
With that in mind, Carlson told his audience that while Russia is the clear aggressor, Americans are being led to falsely believe the conflict is as simple as good versus evil.
Carlson shared his hesitancy to believe much of the reporting about the war.
“If new organizations are repeating lies about a war, then what can the rest of us believe?” he asked. “What can we know is true? And honestly, it’s hard to know what is true.”
The host said there is no doubt Russian soldiers have “committed atrocities” in Ukraine. He cited endless photos of massacres.
“Some number of them must be real, but we can also be dead certain that the war is not, despite what they tell us, a childish tale of good versus evil,” he said. “This is eastern Europe, after all. Everything is a lot more complicated than it looks on American TV.”
Carlson cited a New York Times report about Ukrainian troops executing Russian POWs. He said Ukraine’s government bragged about it.
He rationalized that, given that Ukrainians are now accused of illegally executing their invaders, the result is a tragedy for “everyone.”
“[The Ukrainians] boasted about the killings, calling them ‘precise work,’” he said. “So that happened, it’s awful. Now, does the fact that it is awful justify Russia’s invasion to Ukraine? Of course it doesn’t. The Russian invasion in Ukraine was wrong and the results have been a tragedy for everyone around the world.”
