Watch the Full Jesse Watters Comments Trump Cited That Apparently Violated Judge’s Gag Order

Former President Donald Trump is known to be a voracious consumer of cable news, so it’s not surprising that he delighted in Jesse Watters’ Wednesday evening commentary about jury selection in his hush money trial.

What is unique about Trump’s latest promotion of cable news is that he opted to cite comments from Watters that pushed a conspiracy theory about potential jurors in his Manhattan hush money trial, which seems a clear violation of Judge Juan Merchan’s gag order not to comment on or intimidate potential jurors. Oops.

On Wednesday night, The Five dove into media coverage of Trump during his New York Trial. In a bit about the jury selection, Watters claimed, “They are catching undercover liberal activists lying to the judge,” which Trump quoted and posted on Truth Social.

This appears to be in direct violation of Merchan’s gag order, a reality highlighted by JustSecurity’s Ryan Goodman, who compared Trump’s Truth Social post and the plain language of the gag order, which is explained in greater detail here.

The full context of Watters’ comments that pleased Trump so much as to risk the penalty for violating the gag order? Read a transcript below:

I think he’s been pretty calm for facing 91 charges. I’m wetting myself if I’m facing one charge. There are trying to rig this jury. They are catching undercover liberal activists lying to the judge. They’re saying, oh, have you ever seen anything on social media about Donald Trump? No, I can’t remember. Well, what about this post where you said he should be in prison? Oh yeah. That one strike and and they keep throwing these undercovers at them and thank God they’re doing the research on these people so far. The jury foreman is a guy born in Ireland. Er. And then my other hope is a guy born in Puerto Rico with grandkids. The rest of them are corporate lawyers with dye all over their firms websites. And you have a 20 year old white girl who works for Disney and likes to dance. This looks like trouble. I think I think I hung jury. I think a hung jury is the best you’re going to get here.
