White House Spox Confirms They ‘Are Looking At’ How to Jail Americans In El Salvador

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was pressed by White House reporters on Tuesday over the ongoing controversy surrounding the administration sending a migrant to an El Salvador prison by “error” and President Donald Trump saying he would like to send American citizens there next.

“How concerned is the president that a federal judge could hold a Trump administration official in contempt of court for defying deportation orders?” a reporter asked Leavitt, referring to the Supreme Court order to return the migrant to the U.S.

“We are complying with all court orders. So I see what you’re trying to do there with that question. But we’re very confident that every action taken by this administration is within the confines of the law. And we continue to comply with the court’s orders. And you have seen that. And the President made that clear yesterday in the Oval Office with President Bukele,” Leavitt replied.

“Thanks Karoline. Just going back to El Salvador, could you just explain to us a little bit more about the legal basis on which you may be able to send US citizens to prison there? I know you said that President Trump is looking at it, but can you explain to us a bit more about how that might be possible?” asked another reporter.

“We’re looking at it and when I have more for you to share, I certainly will,” she replied.

“Still going off the El Salvador questions, yesterday in the Oval Office, administration officials made it very clear that El Salvador is responsible for Mr. Abrego Garcia, yet El Salvador’s president said we are not going to do anything with him, so my question is who is responsible, for this man and where he’s going to end up?” followed up another reporter.

Leavitt fumed at the question and continued to claim that the migrant, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, is a member of MS-13 – despite no court ever convicting him as such.

“The ‘evidence’ against Abrego Garcia consisted of nothing more than his Chicago Bulls hat and hoodie, and a vague, uncorroborated allegation from a confidential informant claiming he belonged to MS-13’s ‘Western’ clique in New York — a place he has never lived,” Judge Paula Xinis, who is overseeing the case regarding his return to the U.S., wrote in a recent court document.
