‘We’re in Donald Trump’s America’: Biden Goes Off on Trump, Says He’s ‘Rooting’ for Violent Protests to Make Political Gains
Former Vice President Joe Biden ripped President Donald Trump and his administration by accusing them of blatantly hoping America sees more violent protests because they think it will politically advantageous for them.
Joining MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Thursday, Biden was asked for his reaction to Vice President’s Mike Pence’s speech to the 2020 Republican National Convention the night before. Mitchell noted that the RNC glossed over the police shooting of Jacob Blake while Pence claimed “you won’t be safe in Joe Biden’s America.”
“The problem we have right now is we’re in Donald Trump’s America,” Biden shot back. “He views this as a political benefit to him. He’s rooting for more violence, not less, and it’s clear about that. What’s he doing? He’s pouring gasoline on the fire. This happens to be Donald Trump’s America.”
Biden cited the comments of Kellyanne Conway, who gave an interview to Fox & Friends earlier in the day and said “the more chaos and anarchy and vandalism and violence reigns, the better it is for the very clear choice on who’s best on public safety and law and order.”
The ex-veep held up Conway’s comments as proof the Trump administration wants more violence because they think it will politically help them.
“I think he views it as a political benefit,” Biden said. “He just keeps pouring fuel on the fire. He’s encouraging this. He’s not diminishing it at all. This is his America now, and you wanna end where we are now? We’ve gotta end his tenure as president.”
Biden also used the interview to once again condemn the violence in Kenosha, saying he spoke to Blake’s family and they want the riots to end too.
