Zelensky to Fox News: Russia is Using Goebbels’ Nazi Propaganda Strategy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky slammed Russia for using Nazi propaganda media tactics as Moscow continues to falsely justify their invasion of Ukraine.

Zelensky gave an interview to Fox News’ Griff Jenkins this week, hitting back at how Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently compared him to Adolf Hitler. Russia has repeatedly pushed the false claim that their invasion is a Ukrainian de-Nazification campaign, and even though Zelensky is Jewish, Lavrov tried to dismiss that inconvenient detail by saying that “Hitler also had Jewish blood.”

“These are the showings of chauvinism and nationalism,” Zelensky said in response to Lavrov. “They are following the same concept of [Nazi propaganda minister Joseph] Goebbels and using the same methodology, and the reaction I think is to weaken the world to these phrases of Lavrov.”

Zelensky’s retort comes after the Israeli government publicly condemned Lavrov’s remarks. The interview with Jenkins went on as Zelensky once again scoffed at world leaders who commemorated Holocaust Remembrance Day, but refuse to say “never again” to Russia’s invasion.

As Zelensky spoke about the devastation of Mariupol, he switched from Ukrainian to English as he asked President Joe Biden to visit his country and witness what they’ve endured first-hand. This comes after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi received universal praise for visiting Kyiv and pledging further assistance to Ukraine.

“I think it’s very important because, you know, in our minds, in our society the President Biden is the president of the biggest democratic civilization for Ukrainians,” Zelensky said.
