O’Reilly: Beyoncé ‘Harming’ America’s Children with Racy Videos
<Bill O’Reilly has gone after Beyoncé in the past few months for being a horrible role model for young women, and after Time magazine put her on this week’s Time 100 cover, O’Reilly went off again, calling the magazine’s praise of Beyoncé “a load of nonsense.”
Penny Nance, from the Concerned Women for America, argued that her provocative dress in her music videos means she “equates power with hypersexuality.” Eboni Williams argued that Beyoncé is a big influence, but O’Reilly jumped in to say Beyoncé is part of the problem where “cultural deficits” among young people are concerned. He said, “This woman knows that young girls are getting pregnant in the African-American community now… and doesn’t seem to care.”
Williams pointed out that teen pregnancy is down and that Beyoncé has emphasized female empowerment before, but O’Reilly called that “garbage.” Nance suggested Beyoncé talk to children about the importance of marriage, and O’Reilly concluded, “She should be smart enough to know what she’s doing now is harming some children.”
