Sure, go ahead, make your jokes, but “Harper” is a perfectly solid, classic name for a girl, with just the right amount of literary pretension necessary to render young Harper the envy of every playground Tom, Dick and Harrington Faulkner Abbott-Ruiz.
Harper — the first daughter for Spice Girl-turned-accomplished fashion designer Victoria Beckham and her soccer star husband David Beckham — was born this past Sunday at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai. Mr. Beckham, proud papa that he is, shared the announcement with his Facebook fans:
I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham. She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA. Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister xx
Little Harper joins her older brothers Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, five.
