GOP Rep.: Democrats Should Be ‘Held Accountable’ for Violating Rules in Gun Control Sit-In

pete sessionsA Republican congressman said yesterday that his Democratic colleagues should be held accountable for their violation of the rules during their day-long gun control sit-in. And this Republican just happens to be chairman of the House Rules Committee.

Pete Sessions said on WFAA’s Inside Texas Politics yesterday that Senate Democrats rejected a compromise days before the House Democrats protested before getting around to the issue of rules.

After all, phones are not permitted on the House floor, but because of Periscope, that and a bunch of other House rules were violated during the sit-in.

Sessions said it was a completely inappropriate breach of decorum and it set a dangerous precedent.

“There was a complete lack of [respect],” he said, “and I believe what they did is not only wrong but that they should be held accountable through an ethics process for that.”
