Senator Joe Lieberman Leaves Door Open To Run As A Republican
CNN makes some news! CNN’s Dana Bash interviewed Senator Joe Lieberman last night for AC360 and when the topic of his political party affiliation came up, the former Democrat and current independent did not rule out a future campaign as a Republican. Lieberman told Bash that a move to the GOP remained a possible, though unlikely, option. “I don’t know what I’ll run as,” he said. “I like being an independent. So that’s definitely a possibility. But I’d say all options are open.”
Lieberman has been under a tremendous amount of heat from the Democratic party – a party with which he was affiliated until last year. Lieberman’s evolving position on health care (and a potential filibuster) appears to be the primary source of frustration among the left.
Bash: Any chance Joe Lieberman would run as a Republican?
Lieberman: I don’t know what I will run as. I like being an independent. So that’s definitely a possibility but I’d say all options are open.
Bash: Really?
Lieberman: It’s unlikely that I would run as a Republican, but I wouldn’t foreclose any options.
This will certainly come as good news for the GOP, but will also please producers at Fox News and MSNBC, who will now have one less topic to research and find for inclusion in tonight’s run down. Regardless of one’s political bent, Joe Lieberman is good for the cable news business.
