Limbaugh Hammers GOP, David Brooks for ‘All-Out Assault’ on Ted Cruz
The Republican party is currently divided over how far they’re willing to go to stop Obamacare, with people like Ted Cruz calling for a government shutdown in the fight to defund the health care law. On Monday, Rush Limbaugh called out the GOP for its “all-out assault” on Cruz, including some choice words for New York Times “supposed conservative columnist” David Brooks.
Limbaugh targeted Brooks for warning that Cruz and his ideological brethren in Congress are “undermining the Republican establishment” by refusing to compromise and fighting to defund Obamacare. Limbaugh was flabbergasted at how Brooks could possibly call himself a conservative if this is how he piles on fellow conservatives.
“Why do you call yourself a Republican if all you want to do is lay down and agree with Obama and the Democrats? Why don’t you switch parties if it’s so much better over there?”
He mockingly asked if a moderate Republican, by the GOP establishment’s standards, is one who “bends over and agrees with whatever the Democrats want.” He said if the Republican party is really not going to fight for the things people want them to fight for, they “need to be undermined” anyway.
Limbaugh found Brooks to be echoing a popular mindset in the Republican establishment, a nervousness about Republicans actually making ads opposing their own party’s leadership. Limbaugh insisted it’s about “running against the Washington establishment” and Republicans who have no problem agreeing with Obama on practically everything.
