No One Man Should Have All This Power: Kanye West Shows Up To Occupy Wall Street

video

Kanye West just touched down in Wall Street town as a guest of Russell Simmons in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street protestors.

“It was amazing to see how people loved seeing Kanye West at Occupy Wall Street,” Simmons said in an interview with GlobalGrind. “His music and his art has always been about the voice and the power of the people. Kanye just wanted to come down and experience the growing movement that has opened the eyes of many around this country and around the world of the struggles of poor people. The energy at Liberty Plaza was electrifying and the momentum to get the money out of politics is growing quickly.”

According to reports on the scene, the goldtoothed West was there and gone like a flashing light. He didn’t speak to anyone on the scene, tweeted RT’s Lucy Kapanov, and got into a car with Simmons and left. Gothamist snarked, “Isn’t Kanye West considered part of the 1%?”

Because Jesus Christ isn’t supporting this in person, they had to play up the guy who only compared himself to Jesus Christ.  As if people weren’t having a hard enough time concluding these are all children, they get one of the biggest kids out there to walk through and show support?  Yeah, good PR there.

Two rich black artists who have made a mint by forming many corporations and merchandising.  The brain dead liberals don’t know what to think.

Not surprising, Mediaite didn’t do a piece on this:

Russell Simmons Called Out by FBN’s Charles Payne on Complaints Taxes Too Low

Love it Russell Simmons- the capitalist who sells credit cards to the youth so he can make more money off the interest he charges them.

“On the radio show, Watkins, who also runs the activist Web site Your Black World, said Simmons isn’t the humanitarian he claims to be, and even loosely compared him to a pimp.

“[Simmons is] saying I’m giving everyone access to the American Dream, but I never really knew the American Dream consisted of having a piece of plastic that puts people further and further in debt,” Watkins said. “But even a pimp that helps — that quote unquote ‘helps’ — a young woman get off the street, he can say, ‘I helped you because you were homeless when I met you and now you’re not.’”

Watkins went on to criticize the fee structure of the prepaid Visa RushCard, which includes an activation fee of $19.95, a daily convenience fee of $1 (capped at $10 a month), $1.95 ATM cash withdrawal fee and more. He concluded that larger, more powerful institutions need to solve the problems that Simmons is claiming to fix for the underbanked communities, such as lack of access to a bank account. (Disclosure: CreditCards.com offers the RushCard).

She can behead Simmons while she is there- he said he made $100MM yesterday!

Scratch some checks bro’s.. Use about 55%  of your bank ask your friends to do the same. Step up.

    LOL

That lib POS Lloyd is back.

Hey you POS, post your real email, you coward!

  • Anonymous

Did ya see how fast Simmons shut his mouth after Charles challenged him?

    That was so funny.

  • Anonymous

Next these multi-millionaires will explain why you can’t make it in America if you are a minority.

  • Anonymous

I’m glad they showed up- now the OWS can say they have some minorities protesting with them.

  • Frod

Probably because there is absolutely no story to be found unless you willfully misunderstand what Simmons is saying because you want what he is saying to agree with your preconceptions because you’re not smart enough to change course in the face of new information. It’s what stupid people do when they’re wrong, basically.

Too many run on sentences. Go back to grammar school.

  • http://twitter.com/Good_Lt Good Lt.

Are they planning on sleeping in the park with the unwashed idiots?

Will they be giving away their millions to others so the hungry and unfortunate can simply live?

    No, and no.

They don’t, and won’t, practice what they preach.

    And hence, they’re perfect liberals.

  • Frod

Oh look, another complete numbskull. Hi numbskull.

    Still have zero, eh lib.

    Though so.

You must have a terribly  empty feeling- in your skull.

  • Anonymous

Uh Oh! Your fear of black people is showing!

  • Anonymous

Liberals support all good people.  The reason you’re confused is because Republicans have no moral capacity, no sense of right or wrong.

  • Anonymous

Russell Simmons is currently sponsoring commercials for ‘The RUSH Card’
It is a prepaid credit card type thing, but has astronomically high interest rates, late fees, and activation fees. And they are protesting about greedy bankers. Liberal logic for you.

  • Anonymous

It’s time people make a statement to stop the craziness imposed by Wall Street on us. What we have done to them is just minimal. The control they have gained financially for only their benefits has finally found a way to them. I am glad celebrities has joined this fight.

    michelertorres@linuxmirroreast.com

  • Anonymous

Russell Simmons is currently promoting his ‘RUSH Card’ which is like a cheap credit card type thing. He is marketing the credit card toward low income African-Americans. However, the credit card tacks on HUGE interest rates and other fees and is anything but a quick & easy credit card like Simmons says it is in the commercial. The RUSH card only leads to massive amounts of debt.

Are you prepared to call Russell Simmons a betrayer of his race like you were calling Herman Cain the other day? Simmons is the one deliberately scamming poor blacks and making them even more poor.

  • Anonymous

Actually, prepaid cards don’t have interest rates or late fees.  But thanks for that.

  • Anonymous

nope, but he does charge a dollar every time you use it

  • Anonymous

Ok so I made a mistake. He does charge a $20 activation fee, $1 every time you use it, and $2 when you make an ATM withdrawal. So I guess you think thats fair and not the exact same greedy bank practice that OWS is protesting against?

  • Anonymous

Like Keith Olbermann who lets banks advertise on his TV show? Or Alec Baldwin who made $1 Million being a spokesman for Capitol One? Both have supported OWS

  • Anonymous

And I didn’t want to minimize the point you were trying to make about Banks screwing us over… but celebrities could really care less … they’re just using the protesters for their own gain. Who cares what celebrities think?

  • Anonymous

I agree with you that this must be just some public stunt pulled off by these people for their own gain. If no just for the sake of publicity. But I also think it’s hard for them to forsake their earning to join the movement. If they were not traitor who worked with the banks. I think there is merit towards what they have been doing. Not everything likes to put their name on the line for this kind of publicity.

  • Chayal Boded

Awwww, get back to your pots and pans! Thinking obviously isn’t your strong suit.

Corporatist R Simmons said “The energy at Liberty Plaza was electrifying and the momentum to get the money out of politics is growing quickly.”

But of course Russell isn’t talking about the $1Billion war chest 0bama is building.  Right Russell?

Is your name Obeezy or did you just forget your ADHD medication today??

  • Anonymous

Do you want to respond to my original question? Every comment I see of yours on this site is deflection or personal attack. Are you ready to have a rational conversation or do you just want to fuel more hate?

  • Anonymous

    Hilarious!

  • Anonymous

And I forgot … the credit cards with high interest rates that put black people in huge debt is what Al Sharpton used to promote in commercials. My bad.

  • Anonymous

I’ll answer your question if you admit you’re Obeezy’s sockpuppet (cause then I would be talking to the person whom I addressed ******my****** question to).

  • Pablo

The point I’m making is that I’m not knocking corporations. I’m knocking
the game they’re playing. I’m not knocking the players, I’m knocking
the game. And what I’m telling you is that this country allows too much
access to their politicians by too much interests and too much money.
It’s really simple. And I’m happy to pay more taxes, but I’m not going
to pay more taxes alone. I’d rather give it to my charities.

Let’s take the money out of politics and give it to the government!

A real man of genius right there.

  • Pablo

    How would you know?

  • Pablo

Wall Street isn’t imposing a thing on you. Perhaps you have it confused with Washington DC.

  • Pablo

No, no! It’s OK if Obama does it, because he’s a brotha! Not like that cracker Herman Cain.

  • Anonymous

Use your eyes and read my name, does it say Obeezy? I’m trying to have a discussion with you but if you just want to engage in petty, nonsensical games and name calling then so be it. I’m done talking to you if that’s the case. Carry on cracking yourself up with your unfunny jokes.

  • Darladoon

it kinda/sorta helps to require people to pay more….

it’s called a “mandate” (see:  republicans’ health care proposal circa 1994)

  • Darladoon

didn’t realize russell simmons was leading the OWS movement….

    but thanks

  • Anonymous

Umm hes down there supporting it. So what difference does it make? Would you like to respond to my original point….?

  • Anonymous

Republicans are sure mad at black people.

  • Anonymous

But these rich libs WANT to pay more. Why do you need a “mandate” when they say over and over they want to? Or are they lying? Are they just mouthing the words to look good, while hiding their money away in any tax shelter they can find?

  • Anonymous

Maybe those OWS self avowed cannibals should eat Russell Simmons for charging so much! Activations fees, user fees, ATM withdrawl fees. Simmons is probably making a mint. He sould willingly give it all back to the government.

  • Anonymous

He said one good thing there. “I’d rather give it to my charities.” Because if you pick your charities carefully, most of the money you give will actually go to worthwhile causes and support people that really need the help. If you give it to the federal government, it will go to Solyndra.

  • Wake up America

Yeah they showed up to make more money off of these kids. Kinda like Michael Moore, makes movies on evil capitalism and makes money doing it. Hypocrisy at it’s highest. Too bad these kids don’t understand that they’re being used.

    Two RICH CAPISTALISTS

Have you seen Russell Simmons’ wife show…they LOVE CAPITALISM.

Two millionaires pretending they’re the “common” man.  Ha, just like that multi-millionaire hypocrite Michael Moore.

The moronic left actually think these millionaires are their friends.

because the loss of jobs associated with raising those taxes wont effect them or their quality of life.

  • Guest

Oops…that sure sounds like a fee……are you an idiot by the way?

  • Guest

    Usefull idiots….

  • Guest

I know Mrs. Sharpo is fat and ugly, but still makes a living on her back….

  • Guest

His answer is yes…Russell Simmons is a betrayer of his race and is exploiting it to make even more money.  But he is ok with that capitalsim because the individual practicing it shares his political ideology.

  • Anonymous

I love how all the Republicans click on “like,” even when they know you’re lying.  It sums up the Republicans perfectly.

  • Anonymous

No, all of the Visa transactions are free.  Thank you, however, for proving that you are a compulsive liar.  Well done.

  • Anonymous

Nope, you’ve been caught lying again.  You can make as many purchases as you want and the monthly fee for purchases never goes above $10.  Thanks again, though, for proving you are a liar.

  • Anonymous

No, I tell the truth and you lie, as you know. I love making fools of stupid liars like you.  You’re so stupid that you’re incapable of seeing how stupid you are.

  • Holistic

Wow! Russell Simmons and Kayne West—-just the kind of people Cain was talking about getting them off the crack pipe.

  • caconservative

It’s kinda/sorta, socialist crap, isn’t it? How about not kinda/sorta taking responsibility for yourself, and DEFINITELY doing for yourself! Is that too much out of the mainstream?

  • Anonymous

I’m sure West will just be giving all of his new line of “clothes” away to the 99%!

You know, the fashion line he just unveiled in Paris!

So glad he could find a few minutes to fly in to be “down with the people!”

  • AliveStillKickin

    Kayne West….ROFL!!!
One more worthless BUM in the mix.
    Who’s your Daddy….Kayne?

  • Cris Henderson

This discussion is the very reason that things like Occupy Wall Street need to be happening all over the country right now. Listen to yourselves! You’re all AMERICANS. All you “brainless liberals” AND “morally bereft republicans”…. Ya know I tried writing this and with both sides in mind. But every time I thought about the the Fox News/Republican/”Tea Party” set, I thought of how bigoted, uninformed, greedy and full of hate they seem to be. Regardless of your political tendencies, if you can’t see that americans on the whole are being taken advantage of at every turn, then you’re an ignorant daydreamer. And if you defend the people that have allowed all the job outsourcing, economic inequality and corperate hijacking of the GOV, then you have no idea what it is to be American. This country wasn’t founded on free market issues. It was founded on issues of REPRESENTATION. Represtentation for their tax dollars to be exact. Which is exactly what is missing from our government and has been for longer than I’ve been alive.

I thought the Trash were already protesting, now the Tinsel Town Trash are showing up, in all their Bim (is that what they call their jewelery).  Why don’t these scum donate a few of their many, many cars to the  cause?  They only want the publicity and aren’t into really helping.  Trash is Trash, no matter how you look at it!
