Rand Paul Swipes at Hillary During His YouTube SOTU Response
As one of the hundreds of GOP politicians responding to Barack Obama’s State of the Union address, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) pretaped his speech and delivered it via YouTube.
Standing in what appears to be a Marriott conference room (or something), Sen. Paul criticized Obamacare, called for the end of police militarization, promised to place term limits on Congress, and criticized U.S. foreign intervention by helping lead to the 2012 Benghazi attacks.
Oh, and Hillary Clinton, while he was at it:
Secretary Gates got it right when he said that we’ve over-militarized our foreign policy. Should we be engaged in trying to encourage stability in the world? Absolutely. But we must think before we act. We must remember the maxim—first, do no harm.
Hillary’s war in Libya is a prime example of acting without thinking. Libya is now a jihadist wonderland. Jihadists swim in our embassy pool. Our Ambassador is dead, and we are now more at risk from terrorist attacks than ever before.
Paul’s solution is consistent with his beliefs: “We must defend ourselves and defend vital American interests, but we must not be deluded into believing that we can remake the Middle East in an image of Western Democracy.”
