Scarborough Snipes at ‘Certain Cable News Shows On Other Networks’ Talking About Leaks
Joe Scarborough used the first hour of Morning Joe to issue a pointed message to his former Republican colleagues on Capitol Hill.
As former FBI director James Comey prepares for what is expected to be blockbuster testimony tomorrow before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Scarborough warned the GOP that it was critical they avoid looking like handmaidens of the administration or sounding like “certain cable news shows on other networks”
“If Republicans end up looking like they’re reading the talking points from the White House or from the Trump run RNC or from certain cable news shows on other networks and all they’re talking about are leaks, they’ll pay a heavy, heavy price in 2018 for caring more about protecting a corrupt — apparently corrupt — president and administration than getting to the truth,” he said. “This Republican party has to decide whether it is the party of Reagan and Lincoln or weather it is the party of Donald Trump and Michael Flynn and a lot of that will be answered tomorrow.”
Willie Geist then suggested a countdown clock… (perhaps his own veiled swipe at CNN)
Now, while we at Mediaite would never speculate lightly, it seems pretty clear that, that “other networks” line was a dig at MSNBC’s ratings rival Fox News. And while nobody’s show or name was specifically called out, the anchor is known to have a long running feud with Sean Hannity. The two regularly trade nasty barbs from their respective perches and it’s hard to believe Scarborough didn’t have at least one eye on him when making his observation.
