The Guy Kevin McCarthy Wants As Speaker Has No Interest In The Job
Kevin McCarthy shocked the political world today by announcing his withdrawal from the race for Speaker. Needless to say, it’s a pretty chaotic day for House Republicans, and now the election for John Boehner‘s replacement has been delayed.
Mere hours later, McCarthy has already given an interview to National Review saying that conservatives “wanted things I couldn’t deliver” and “sometimes you have to hit rock bottom”.
As for who he wants to step into the race now, McCarthy named his colleague and fellow “Young Gun” Paul Ryan to run.
The only problem there is Ryan said today, after McCarthy dropped out, he has no interest in jumping in:

The two big candidates right now are Jason Chaffetz and Daniel Webster.
