‘They’re Pretty Terrified’: Bill Kristol Says Panic Among Senate GOP After Comey Hearing

While yesterday’s James Comey testimony was a mixed bag for everybody, Bill Kristol took to Twitter after the hearing to sound the alarm. The Conservative commentator said that a number of GOP Senators he spoke with were “pretty terrified” over what the ex-director had to say.

Kristol — who it should be noted doesn’t have the best record with Trump-related prognostications — was specifically responding to a report in Politico by Burgess Everett and Seung Min Kim which had essentially claimed the opposite.

“It’s sort of like the build-up to a big Super Bowl game and everybody gets disappointed. You saw the countdown on all the TVs,” Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said of the hearings, according to the report. “They were expecting a bombshell, what they got was a confirmation of what we knew already. There was very little new information.” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) reacted similarly, “I don’t believe the president committed a crime. It’s clear to me he’s not under investigation for collusion yet.”

This nothing-to-see here approach from the likes of Tillis and Graham may sound good on the record, but Kristol has pretty deep ties in the D.C. swamp and his tweet should not be discounted lightly.

One person who said he was not concerned at all was President Donald Trump. The Commander-in-Chief tweeted Friday saying that Comey’s testimony left him feeling “completely vindicated”
