Tired Of Obama? Barely Political Presents “I Like Mike [Gravel]: Our President”

What would you say if we told you former Democratic presidential candidate Mike Gravel actually won the 2008 election, and has been secretly running the country this whole time? “Haha, good joke!” maybe? Good, because that’s what the folks at Barely Political were hoping you would say when they hired Gravel to star in a “mockumentary-esque show called ‘I Like Mike: Our President.’”

Barely Political debuted the trailer today, from which it appears the series will be a spoof of both real news coverage and programs like The West Wing, chronicling the Gravel presidency in great detail. Gravel will be taking care of business with the military, big corporations and any interest that stands in the way of ordinary Americans.

Politico spoke to Gravel about the series, who said he never imagined being a comedian but eased quickly into the role. What kind of comedy will he do?:

“‘Who hasn’t laughed at a joint session of Congress during a presidential speech when [members] jump up and down like yoyos and applaud anything? If the president breathes sideways — oh, it’s an applause. And people see that and say, ‘My, how ridiculous is that?’ Gravel added that other rants will come on both the drug war and gay marriage.”

Gravel has a history with the comedy group, having previously starred in a romantic music video with their biggest star, “Obama Girl,” who did not relinquish the name despite her brief flirtation with the libertarian Democrat.

Good find and I haven’t fully formed this additional thought, so excuse me for wrapping it in “under construction” tags, but…

In Alaska everything in the Lower 48 is called “Outside” and of course we can all appreciate an “outsider’s perspective”. So I’m not sure what it means when two Alaskans from different poitical parties are both given platforms to espouse comparatively simple, yet undoubtedly straightforward solutions.

It’s like the Outside is suddenly “in”.

^The “yet” was unnecessary, but hey… it was an incomplete thought.

HA HA. A Pecker-wood with a bat. I wonder how Obama feels about this?…
