Tucker Carlson Mocks Democratic Congressman Over Russia and Sessions: ‘Am I a Spy Too?’
Fox News host Tucker Carlson has made it abundantly clear that he thinks the whole investigation into Russian election interference and potential collusion with Trump associates is a political witch hunt based on conspiracy theories. Therefore, when he welcomed a Democratic congressman on to his show to discuss Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ Senate testimony and the Russia probe, fireworks were to be expected.
Speaking to Rep. Sean Maloney (D-NY), Carlson took issue with the notion that Sessions couldn’t oversee or supervise the FBI due to the Russian investigation and therefore shouldn’t have been involved with the firing of FBI Director James Comey.
The two had a bit of a back-and-forth over that before Tucker decided to just lay his cards on the table:
“Would it be a little easier if you disagree with the Trump Administration’s policies on various things to just explain why you disagree with those rather than try to derail the whole executive branch of government with an insane Russia conspiracy, can we just admit Jeff Sessions was not working on behalf of the Russians? He’s a patriotic American just like you are and we will drop the innuendo in the Mccarthy tactics because it’s counterproductive.”
This eventually led to Maloney stating that the Russians wanted sanctions to be lifted on them while highlighting that the GOP platform was changed, with Carlson telling him that was “absurd” and giving Maloney grief for saying the Russians helped change the platform.
Carlson then took to straight up mocking Maloney, pointing out that he’s also against sanctions on Russia and wanting to know if that makes him a “tool of Putin.”
“Am I a spy too?” Tucker asked.
