‘You Gotta Let Me Speak!’: Discussion on Trump’s ‘Top Secret’ Video Goes Nuclear

“He’s just fabricating things,” offered CNN contributor Tara Setmayer about Republican nominee Donald Trump on Thursday night’s AC360. Setmayer’s passionate anti-Trump tirades are nothing new for the network; she has, in the past, questioned his temperament, his qualifications, and even his integrity as a philandering thrice-married man.

On Thursday she criticized the GOP nominee’s repeated claims that he saw a “top secret” video of money being exchanged in direct relation to the Iranian prisoner swap, a claim that can not be verified.

“He hurts himself where this should be a winning issue for the Republicans,” Setmayer noted, identifying the foreign policy blunders of the Obama administration that Trump should be out on the campaign hitting home. “But Donald Trump is such a godawful messenger on this, it hurts him.”

And in this corner, her longtime sparring partner and fervent Trump supporter Kayleigh McEnany, who said, “Donald Trump mentioned the video, he mistakingly saw the wrong video…” setting Setmeyer off into a an interruption fest between the two of them.

“Wait a minute! It’s not a mistake if you go into full detail!” shot back Setmayer. “He went into detail, saying it was a top secret video — did he not say this?!”

McEnany opted for the old make ’em angrier tactic: “Tara, I know you like to filibuster,” and eventually, “Will you let me speak?” as the squabbling continued.
