Senate Press Gallery Says Vice President Biden’s Office Did Not File Complaint Against Jason Mattera

mattera1 video

In an interview with Fox and FriendsSteve Doocy this morning, Human Events ambush journalist Jason Mattera talked about his now-famous (or infamous?) bushwhacking of Vice President Joe Biden, alleging that he is now being investigated by “the Senate Gallery and the Vice President’s office” over the tactics he used to gain access to Biden.

Since then, though, the chair of the standing committee on correspondents has said that no complaint has been filed.

Ambush Interviewer Jason Mattera Goes On Fox News To Complain About Joe Biden’s ‘Press Chick’

mattera-316x210 video

Jason Mattera, the Human Events stunt-interviewer who got straightened out by Vice President Joe Biden earlier this week, appeared on Your World with Neil Cavuto to continue feigning outrage about Biden’s supposed use of a “rape reference” to “describe Republican opposition to the President’s bill.”

Mattera underscored his concern for women by complaining to Cavuto about the contempt shown to him by Biden’s “press chick,” and continued to mislead about Biden’s remarks, saying the VP accused Republicans of being “pro-rape.”

Conservative White House Press Explains Why Chris Christie Won’t And Shouldn’t Run

glk video

Before today’s White House daily briefing, I found myself surrounded by something of a Holy Trinity of Conservative Media, so it seemed like a good time to ask them what they thought of the chatter surrounding NJ Gov. Chris Christie‘s possible (if unlikely) entry into the 2012 Republican presidential field. John Gizzi from Human Events, Fred Lucas from CNS News, and Les Kinsolving from World Net Daily all responded to the question “Will he, and should he?” with a resounding negatory.

John Bolton’s ‘Why I May Run For President’ Is The ‘If I Did It’ Of The 2012 GOP Race

Picture 1

Former American ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton is running for president. This was, for some time, a rumor in certain circles, but Bolton had kept himself out of the spotlight for so long that many had forgotten he was even a potential Republican contender. It turns out eight months or so of other people gallivanting around as Republican hopefuls was enough to bring him out of the woodwork, however, with the most thinly-veiled presidential announcement since the time Tim Pawlenty mistakenly let Piers Morgan in on a little secret.

Conservative Media Take Another Shot At Gibbs On Berwick Appointment

IMG_3508b video

After falling prey to a particularly adept Robert Gibbs Jedi mind trick last week, CNSNews reporter Fred Lucas waded into the fray again at yesterday’s briefing. This time, in quizzing Gibbs on the recess appointment of Donald Berwick, Lucas formed a tag-team with Human Events’ John Gizzi, but he ignored the advice I gave him last week: “Next time Gibbs asks you a question, say ‘No comment!’”

This Exists: Right Wing News Lists 20 Hottest Conservative Women

Nov09-ml

In what seems to have become an annual rite, there’s a new list out counting down the top 20 conservative hotties (new media edition), and while I have great appreciation for conservative new media hotties, and I love Countdown, I’m not a big fan of this effort.

Elena Kagan Can Turn Softball-gate Into Home Run

Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan would probably prefer that her sexual orientation not be the subject of a heated national debate, but since CBS News flung that door open, the genie just won’t go back into the bottle. In fact, the Wall Street Journal’s use of a softball-themed dog whistle seems to have set the genie on fire in a fireworks factory, and an overly-cautious White House is drawing attention to it like a blaring red fire engine. Kagan’s silent defiance is understandable, but she’s now in a position to do a lot of good.

Ambush Journo Jason Mattera Named Human Events Chief

Mattera

Conservative activist Jason Mattera has been making a lot of noise lately, and it looks like it’s paying off. Hot on the heels of his ambush interview of Senator Al Franken (D-MN), conservative mainstay Human Events announced that it has named Mattera its Editor in Chief. He will also have “significant involvement” with Human Events’ sister site, Redstate.

The brash, young (26 years old) Mattera certainly knows how to get attention, but is he a good fit for the 66 year-old “Conservative Bible,” favorite newspaper of Ronald Reagan? Is Redstate, hub of serious conservative activism, ready to be helmed in Mattera’s direction?

National Council of La Raza Slams ‘Illegal Alien Christmas Song’

Earlier, we reported on conservative Human Events’ promotion of a Christmas song parody about peso-catchin’, scut work doing, taco-cooking, drunk-stolen-car driving, tequila-shooting, kidney-freeloading, anchor baby having, bubonic plague/bedbug/tuberculosis spreading (seriously) illegals.

The song, which is still up on the site, name-checks the National Council of La Raza, so we contacted them to find out their reaction to this little cup of racist cheer.

Conservative Site Posts ‘Illegal Alien Christmas Song’

Move over, “Barack the Magic Negro,” pack it in, “Star Spanglish Banner,” the conservative Human Events website has you both beat. They’ve posted a “parody” of Feliz Navidad that ups the ante on hateful shock-jockery, and omits the usual fig leaves of weasel words and framing devices that pros like Rush Limbaugh use.

If there’s a ray of good news here, it’s that the comments on the post, so far, are overwhelmingly negative. Listen to the extremely offensive ditty if you dare.

Robert Novak Dead at 78

Human Events confirms that longtime conservative columnist and pundit Robert Novak has died at the age of 78. Novak was diagnosed with brain cancer last August, which prompted his retirement.

Novak’s column was syndicated by the Chicago Sun-Times for more than 40 years. In a moving obituary, the Sun-Times editorial board highlights the journalistic qualities that elevated Novak above the rest of the political commentariat:
