Ben Carson: Trump and Clinton Are Both ‘Elderly,’ Should Release Full Medical Records
Former Republican presidential candidate and famed neurosurgeon Ben Carson said Wednesday that both presidential candidates — including his own preferred candidate Donald Trump — should release their full medical history because of their advanced age.
Carson was asked on MSNBC’s Morning Joe about comments from other Trump surrogates like Rudy Giuliani casting doubt on Hillary Clinton‘s medical fitness. “I think that somebody who is running for president of the United States, particularly if they’re elderly, and that would include both major candidates, should disclose their medical history,” Carson said.
“And I’m not talking about from a year ago or two years ago,” he continued. “I’m talking about currently. And I think it’s common sense. As people get older, things begin to happen to them.”
Carson declined an invitation to offer his own diagnosis of Clinton’s health, calling it improper to do so from a distance. “My diagnosis would be that anybody who is elderly should expose their records and we the people should know what they are,” he said. “Because it’s a very stressful job. It’s not an eight hour a day job, it’s 24/7 and we need to make sure it’s taken care of.”
“And you agree Donald Trump should be held to that same standard? Because he hasn’t done that either,” host Willie Geist pointed out.
“Absolutely,” Carson responded. “Without question.”
