“Charts Porn” And Undressing Maria Bartiromo On The Daily Show

It may be a months-old story, but with the SEC porn memo findings back in the news, The Daily Show took on the juicy details with full team coverage.

Jon Stewart led off the discussion, followed by correspondent Samantha Bee (and a cardboard cutout of CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo).

Stewart showed various members of the media finding porn/finance puns, and expressed surprise and much of the report details (like the one lawyer who spent eight hours a day downloading porn). When Bee joined the segment, she explained that “finance is boring. Porn is interesting.”

So her solution to the porn-watching SEC employees? Make finance more like porn. That included updating those boring financial charts with porn-like imagery, and later, incorporating a cardboard cut-out of CNBC anchor Bartiromo. Why?

She’s the Angelina Jolie of the financial world. and every time the SEC uncovers any wrongdoing they get to take a piece of clothing off their favorite Money Honey.

The fact that Bartiromo has abandoned the Money Honey nickname is essentially irrelevant to the segment. Instead, The Daily Show‘s funny-over-serious take on this specific issue shows both the comedy possibilities, but also highlights the more newsy financial story right now involves The Fabolous Fab and Goldman Sachs.

Here’s the segment:

When I saw “porn” I naturally thought of O’Reilly. You know, showing porn so he can condemn the showing of porn.

  • Olby Sucks

Jon Lebowitz is where the progressives go for their “news.” Any questions?

Royal… when you know many people on this site actually watch O’Reilly… why would you say something like the above, which most will know instantly is false? I can understand your irrational hatred… but the desire to lie to people who know the truth seems counter productive.

ImNotBlue, I think you’ve captured it; “not being productive” is a trait shared by many (dare I say “most?”) liberals. In any event, if it’s low class, you can bet either stewart or maher or litterman either did it or approved of it.
