CNN Anchor to Mayor: Your City Council’s Majority-Muslim, ‘Are You Afraid?’

CNN’s Carol Costello this morning asked a Michigan mayor if she’s “afraid” of or if residents are concerned about the city council being majority-Muslim.

Costello started out by saying to Hamtramck Mayor Karen Majewski, “You govern a majority-Muslim-American city. Are you afraid?”

Majewski said she isn’t afraid before correcting Costello and saying the city is not majority-Muslim, only the city council. She said the population is about 40 percent Muslim.

Costello then asked, “Does that concern some of your citizens?”

Majewski said her constituents are mainly just concerned with their day-to-day lives and not about Muslims in their community.
