CNN Reports: Harry Reid Waxes Poetic On Lady Gaga, Larry King In Email

Senator Harry Reid, savvy observer and creator of culture, responded to those who claim they have not had enough time to read through the New START treaty by emailing a list of all the events that have transpired since the President Barack Obama and Russian Dmitry Medvedev agreed on START back in April. So what important and groundbreaking cultural happenings made their way onto his list?

Reid’s office made note of Lady Gaga‘s much talked-about meat dress, worn with relish at the MTV Video Music Awards; the trapped Chilean miners emerging above ground, much to the delight of the general public and the dismay of certain wives and mistresses; Larry King‘s recent decision to retire his suspenders; and Conan O’Brien‘s triumphant return to late night television. Suspiciously absent from the list is Taylor Swift’s burgeoning relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal, like oh my God.

CNN’s “Political Pop” segment deftly weaves a glorious tapestry of politics and pop culture without addressing the obvious: Who has the time to read treaties when there are so many celebrities of which to keep track?
