Ed Schultz Tells Jon Stewart ‘I’ll Stay Quiet if They Ship Your Ass to China’

video

On Thursday night’s episode of The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart posited several candidates as heir apparent to departed Bambino of Bombast Keith Olbermann, and in the process, took some well-aimed shots at liberal fire-breather Ed Schultz. Schultz’s reaction was swift, and characteristically introspective. In a tweet Friday morning, Schultz agreed to tone things down if Stewart would agree to have his “ass” exported to China.

Here’s Schultz’s tweet:

While Schultz’s effort to address America’s trade deficit with its far-Eastern neighbor is laudable, the limited supply curve of Jon Stewart’s ass makes its long-term prospects somewhat dim.

Schultz’s response stands in stark contrast to Olbermann’s past Stewart reJonders, which have been more thoughtful, if not always self-reflective. Still, there’s no such thing as bad publicity, so perhaps Schultz has something to gain by feuding with “Sanity Ref” Stewart. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until Monday night to see this play out. Pop some corn and pull up a chair.

In case you missed it, here’s the segment to which Schultz is responding: (via Comedy Central)

c’mon ed, that was some funny shit. if you can’t laugh at yourself…

You stay classy Ed Schultz. That Stewart segment is hilarious. “Protecting us from necrophiliac pimps.” Good stuff.

And how about the Chris Matthews drinking game? Do a shot every time he says “balloon head.”

Ed is becoming more like Keef everyday.

Yep, it was a good one. I even enjoy his Beck segments, as does, Beck himself. Huh, what a concept. Maybe Ed should take note. Or continue being a first class jackass….his choice.

Sadly it appears that Ed will continue to be a thin-skinned, first-class jackass for the rest of his days.

  • Color Me Badd

Big Eddie needs to lighten up, Stewart loves when people go after him. He usually takes them out, ask Jim Kramer, and Tucker Carlson.

  • tatboy

What does Ed’s tweet even mean??? Is being thin-skinned a job requirement at MSNBC???

It’s also somewhat odd that a man of Ed’s, um, stature would throw around “fat” as an insult.

I can’t believe people enjoy watching that and choose to spend their free time watching it. What is the point of sitting down and watching someone shout at you and have conniption fits?

Ed is really quite emotional; isn’t he?

Why can’t Schultz use his pulpit more productively, say, using it to extol to wonders of Liberalism since the Left took government over in late 2006? Oh, wait. Never mind.

My question applies to Schultz and all others like him. Other than political persuasion, what are the real differences between all of the radio and TV personalities who engage in shouting and partisan anger?

  • Pablo

At least Keef could be a little poetic in his rejoinders. Ed is just angry and dumb. How anyone finds him entertaining is beyond me. The screamer bit might work for talk radio, but it’s unwatchable TV.

That’s all Ed has. Limbaugh and Beck have a sense of humor. They occasionally bring new information to the table. They’re glib, they’re professional entertainers, which is why they’re so successful. Yes, they’ll rant at times but that’s not all they do. Ed has “I’m mad as hell and I want to kick some ass” and pretty much nothing else.

Is Ed also on the radio? Is his shtick the same? It does seem that Beck and Limbaugh have a better sense of humor than Schultz, and I don’t discount the talent needed to keep people engaged and entertained for hours at a time on the radio. Whether or not new information is brought to the table is probably pretty subjective.

  • stoogedudes

I used to watch his show religiously when he first started out. Now, he seems to becoming more unhinged as time goes by and I can’t hardly stand to watch it anymore. I sometimes listen to his radio show, and when a caller even begins to disagree with him, he yells at them and tells them how ignorant they are. I don’t know what has gotten into him (I’m sure some on here have their theories), but I for one will not watch him again.

By the way, I’m with ya Tatboy! GO PACKERS!!

That said, the eternal pessimist in me is scared of a Steelers win. Because my team never wins, that’s how it goes. Maybe if I root for the Steelers… ;)

Schultz, Tingles, O’Donnell, Mitchel, Unger, Ratigan…they will all be gone in a few months.

“So let me be the first to say…Goodbye folks…we are glad to see you go!”

Who are “we?” The brain dead morons who support assholes such as Limpballs and Beck? There is no comparison between bullshit and information. Objectively, if I hadn’t heard it anywhere before and it’s not widely available elsewhere, I’ll consider it new information. Beck in particular brings up tons of stuff that nobody else is talking about.

Yep, you are certainly entitled to your opinion on the subject. But I think my standard is objective. If it’s true, and you didn’t know it, it’s new information. What you choose to do with that information is a separate matter.

  • IndyGal2011

Actually, we’ll have to wait until Valentine’s Day — TDS is off next week. Jon’s critique of Schultz is right on the money, however. The guy is a complete douche and thoroughly unwatchable.

That’s not what I’d call new information. But many of the things he cites to support his case are. Facts are objective, conclusions are subjective. Take the Frances Fox Piven stuff as a perfect example. You don’t have to agree with him, but you can’t reasonably say he didn’t put new information on the table.

Here’s what I love: the fact that liberals only think Jon Stewart is funny if he’s mocking conservatives. Jon’s funny no matter who he’s mocking, and that bit on Olbermann & MSNBC was right on the money. Ed Schultz does need to calm the fuck down. You want to talk about the issues? Fine. • Snidely

Jon Stewart – or Ed Schultz, for that matter – don’t have to worry about being shipped off to China. It’s practically impossible to ship anything to China. You drop it in the mail and, maybe 6 months later, it comes back with all sorts of Chinese characters stamped on it. On the other hand, a package FROM China is delivered sooner than one from Maine. One of many reasons selling TO China is a lose-lose situation.
