Fox News’ Tantaros: If Ron Paul Won’t Support A GOP Candidate, They Should Take Him Out Of The Debates

This weekend, Ron Paul appeared on Fox News Sunday and declared that, were he not to gain the GOP nomination, he probably wouldn’t support the actual candidate if they go against his beliefs. This evening on The Five, a show that hasn’t been particularly Paul-friendly in the past, that statement didn’t go over all that well with Andrea Tantaros stating that, if Paul felt that way, maybe he should be taken out of the Republican debates.

The comment came after Eric Bolling argued that “this is what’s wrong with Ron Paul, right there.” Tantaros added:

“Well, if he’s not going to support a Republican, then take him out of the Republican debates.”

Bolling agreed that that was a “great point.”

    Paul has every right to participate in the debates he is polling at 7% and statistically remains a viable candidate.  If his principles prohibit him from endorsing a candidate that is completely understandable, but he should still encourage his supporters to participate in the election process and to vote their own conscience.  He should not encourage them to sit out the election next year.

    Tantaros’s argument is basically “he disagrees with his peers and he will continue to disagree with them after, therefore he shouldn’t be allowed to participate”

    Paul is polling 12% in several other polls and is the third highest grossing candidate . This “keep him out of the debates” garbage is a panic move by the neocons to censor his message. This is exactly what they did in 2008. The only other candidate that Paul’s base wouldn’t is Gary Johnson. This is not because we are not Republicans, but because we are not Neocons.

    Ron Paul ran in the last election and he went until the very end. I remember that picture of him sitting alone in a chair at his campaign headquarters. He’s also the only candidate that has had a coherent ideology (or really any ideology) running for the 2012 nomination. Being that he is the man whose books, speeches and other publications essentially set the stage for the Tea Party movement, I would say he is in good contention for winning the bid.

    Saying that he endorses another candidate would be the same as conceding defeat but it’s clear that Tantaros is more in league with Gingrich’s idea of having one big happy Republiccan family. Hey maybe they can draft an amendment to the Constitution so that they can all SHARE the presidency! I mean, it’s really fiscal conservativism and American exceptionalism that we’re looking for, right? Who cares which surrogate is reading from the teleprompter.

    Considering he’s recieved the least amount of time per candidate and proportionally with regards to campaign success.   These pundits never amaze me..I expect its going to get worse as Dr. Paul’s support grows the medias tricks do also….American Intellect has no respect for the media…every person involved ought to be debarred from the proffession for treason.

    Ron Paul being in the debates is as pointless as Santorum and Johnson being there.  Paul maintains a 10% or so level of support.  While others have bounced around, while others may bounce around more, Paul isn’t going to.  Anyone who thinks he’s going to win is fooling themselves.

    And as for not supporting another republican, who cares?  We know he doesn’t much care about anyone but himself and it’s getting old.  The sooner he’s gone the better.

    Nah, he’s not a viable candidate.  He has high name recognition in the republican party, most will remember him as the guy arguing America brought 9/11 on ourselves.  His support has never waved from 7-10%.  For him to win, 90% or more will have to be split up between the other candidates, where they will have to receive 6-9% support each.  It’s not impossible, but it’s freaking highly unlikely.

    I agree, he should tell them to vote their conscience.  Just state “We’re headed for a bankruptcy, I may not agree with them, but at least the republican candidate is willing to cut spending to some extent and taxes to some extent.”  Of course, given the options, it seems he’d rather say “Nope, my way or (by default) Obama’s way!”

    I don’t think it’s that big a deal if a running nominee says he wouldn’t support someone who is currently his opposition.

    Though Paul is eccentric,I doubt he would actively campaign against the Republican nominee and his missing endorsement would be irrelevant.

    To some, the fact that Ron Paul consistently chooses PRINCIPLE (Constitution) over PARTY, even here in the matter of endorsement, is a negative. To others like myself, it is one of the things about Ron Paul that we not only consider a positive, but also what sets him apart from all the rest of the GOP candidates. If you know your Constitution (a big “if”, as most GOP/Tea Party voters know more from what they hear on Fox News/Limbaugh/Hannity/Levin, than they do of the Constitution, although they’d never admit it), then you can be certain already now as to what Ron Paul would think/do in any given situation when he is president. What other candidate could we say that about? NONE OF THEM! If Ron Paul loses the GOP nomination, it will have been due to the IGNORANCE of GOP/Tea Party voters regarding Constitutional principles, not to… mention macro-economics beyond that of the Keynesian model they’ve experienced since Reagan’s 2nd term. The fact that Tea Partiers can faun over Cain, a former Federal Reserve chairman whose hero is Alan Greenspan (!), tells you all you need to know about the level of ignorance that exists amongst the GOP/Tea Party voters. Such ignorance is another indictment against our public education system and a major argument in support of Ron Paul’s plan to abolish the Federal Department of Education, among other departments. How distinct this is from Herman Cain’s hollow “plan” regarding Big Government: “Just fix it”, as Reagan is rolling in his grave at such idiocy, crying out, “Government is not the solution to our problem. Government IS the problem!” God save the GOP from itself!

    Jon Bershad - it’s obvious that you don’t understand what ethics and integrity means. You don’t bend on your values if you believe in something. I have the utmost respect for Dr Paul. He has more integrity than all the candidates combined plus our current President. I myself will not be voting for any GOP candidate if Dr Paul does not get the nomination. The ONLY reason I’m registered Republican is because of Dr Paul.  If he doesn’t get the nomination I’m leaving the Republican Party and I know quite a few people will be leaving as well.

    I will not compromise in what I believe in or what this country is supposed to stand for. We have serious ethics and itegrity issues in our government today and we need to majorly clean house.  I 100% support and will stand by The Constitution.     The reason Ron Paul has a steady “7%” (clearly it is more than that)… not sure what polls he is looking at, but anyway, is because he is not any of the other candidates. Because he is fighting for real cuts, to end wars, to audit the fed, to have less government… to restore LIBERTY! 

    If Ron Paul were to endorse any of the other candidates it would be slap in the face along with a knife in the back of all of his supporters. And I guarantee you that even if Paul were to endorse any of the current candidates a majority of his followers would still vote for Ron Paul.

    Paul will find many who supported his bid in 2008 specifically in order to engender a regrowth of libertarian style conservatism given expression with the Tea Party not follow him over his cliff.  They didn’t do it so they could throw that all away for Paul’s ideological purism.  His unwillingness to moderate such stances as he takes, as to state Iran should want to get the bomb and that we shouldn’t do anything to stop them, self-limits the influence he wields in the very movement he helped foster (if not create).  This is unfortunate, since more of the philosophy can afford to be imbued into the political mainstream.  But such is it often with many big-L Libertarians; content to always be the lone guy in the room, secure in the warm sense of their own self-satisfaction.

    Paul’s unwillingness to compromise with the political realities of his world is both his greatest strength and his fundamental flaw.

    This is kind of a viscous cycle, but Fox started it. Ron was out of the GOP for 2 years of his adult life, and was elected in the GOP 24 years.  Last time two parties vied for him to be their candidate if the GOP didn’t pick them, and he didn’t go to either.  But even though he never suggested he’d go third party, and said he has no plans to doesn’t think it makes sense and doesn’t want to, they hound him.  Why don’t they ask Perry?  Ron Paul has been in the GOP more years than Perry has.

    Meanwhile, Tantaros might consider why, if the guy who speaks for us is so badly treated in the GOP, any of his supporters should vote for a different GOP candidate?  She doesn’t exactly make us feel like the GOP is our home — and I’ve been in it, for decades.

    I am a Ron Paul supporter and the Republican Party can kiss my ass if they do not nominate Dr. Paul.  Romeny is a John McCain round two waiting to happen. Ron Paul could mop the floor with Obama in the debates. He would appeal to many anti-war Democrats. He would also have the backing of the “legalize-it” crowd realizing that Obama is not really their friend, further eroding his base.  I truly believe if Ron Paul was allowed to make his case unfiltered by the media to the American people, he would win in a landslide.

    For the amount of time Ron Paul has been getting in these debates it wouldn’t be much of a penalty to exclude him altogether.  I can’t blame the media solely though. I think his strategy has been to sit back and let the others tear themselves apart, knowing that he has the money and backing to stay in the race. If that is his strategy, it seems to have worked pretty well.

    No, he shouldn’t run third party. I’m a Ron Paul supporter and there’s no way in hell I’d vote for him as a third party candidate. It’d essentially be a vote for Obama. The key is to influence the message of the right-wing coalition, the Republicans, and do everything you can to secure the nomination. A third party run would just be spiteful and self-destructive.

    It should be self evident that Ron Paul is the only honest man running for President. His humility and morals far outweight everyone else in the field. He is polling in double figures despite the house (MSM & exisitng political order) completely stacked against him.  I voted for Bush in 04 and sat out the election in 08 because I was disgusted at the choices.  For me, in 2012, it is Ron Paul or Bust.  Why?  Because I don’t see any difference between any of the other Republicans and Barack Obama.  They are all liars, they are all part of the problem, they all have a clear history of pandering to Wall Street, the Federal Reserve, War Mongering, and not giving a flying F*** about the Constitution.  Not to mention they are all narccissists beside Paul.

    What the hell happened to the party that nominated Barry Goldwater?  Ron Paul is the only man who can bring the GOP back to honor and respectability within American Politics. If the GOP shuns him this time around, I assure you all I will not be voting Republican for a long, LONG, time!   Oh and BTW, O’reilly is a giant Douche. But everyone with an I.Q. above room temperature should already be aware of that.

    I will vote Obama if Paul is not the nominee primarily because of the lack of support and open discussion of ideas within the GOP. Romney or Cain will be no different from Obama so why vote for them when I can have the real deal big government pro-war hack in the White House.     Ron Paul supports his country, the constitution, and THE PEOPLE.  I think that these things are much more important than supporting a party.  I think that ALL candidates should feel this way, and by the way, he didn’t say that he wouldn’t support a candidate, he simply said he would have to see what happens moving forward.  It pisses me off that just because RP doesn’t pussyfoot around what he actually means that people get so uptight.  At least the man is being honest.

    I like some things Ron Paul stands for domestically, but his foreign affairs ideas and his isolationist views will never allow him to be the nominee.  He just doesnt care what anyone else is doing. Add the fact that its his way or the highway, will win him no favor with  many independents, centrists, or conservatives. He will always just have the 7%, unless he becomes more reasonable on all foriegn affairs.  If he comes out and says he will run with a John Bolten or Condy Rice as VP to take care of foreign affairs, it could save him and pick up much more support.     You have hit the nail on the head.  When Ron Paul told Wallace that he would want to “talk” to the nominee, that is DC speak for negotiate.  Ron Paul has the most active ground campaign organization, highest number of donors, money in the bank and more in the pipeline (he gets his donations for free from grassroots supporters without expensive “fundraisers”), the moral high ground, the most authentic conservative positions and, if per chance he does not win the nomination, I believe he will end up with, at minimum, enough delegates to enable him to choose the nominee.  This is why the Republicans are totally freaking out.  He will never deliver his delegates without a hard deal, he has just given them the warning.  The other candidates without any integrity whatsoever, are accustomed to changing positions in order to gain political advantage.  He may deliver his delegates for a position as Treasury Secretary.  What say you, fellow Paulbots?  Could you go for a Romney Presidency with Paul as Treasury Secretary?   If Romney wants it that bad, he would agree to anything, but he is such a backstabber, Paul would have to watch every step, which he does anyway.
    It is so very entertaining to see the partisans, hacks and neocon warmongers wondering how Ron Paul could have acquired so much power over them.  As the Primaries move forward, remember, they are counting delegates, the more delegates Ron Paul obtains, the more danger he is in.

    Your post doesn’t make sense.  He isn’t insisting on the gold standard at all, he would legalize competition in currency so that when the dollars falls, we Americans, who are the only ones really locked into the dollar, will have other options for trade in order to avoid the chaos of a fiat currency that goes to zero.  Ron Paul has shown himself to be able to very comfortably work with colleagues with differing views by focusing on the points that unify not divide people.  He can easily find common ground with people of all viewpoints without compromising the integrity of his principles at all.

    lady lady.  Its not a popularity contest!  This is a matter of principle!  Does it make any sense to endorse a candidate who is essentially a cut form the same Keynesian formula?  Obama’s a Keynsian, Romney’s a Keynesian.  Both are monetary socialists…..both symbolize the perpetuation of status quo economics.   So, what the hell sense would it make for Paul to encourage his support to get behind the very socialist dogma he has sought 35 years to dismantle?  How would he even begin to qualify it?  And give the voter better credit than being simply a mindless sheep.  At the end of the day should Ron Paul not be in it (and I seriously doubt it), it will be up to the candidate(s) to convince the voter where to cast their vote….not Ron Paul.

    To the contrary, he isolates himself with his intransigence.  His bills fail in the congress.  I’d love to think Paul was to be able to rise to the level of seriousness with which some of his notions ought to be held, and I see that many expect no less of him, seeing only his strong points which to his supporters outshine his weak ones, but instead he’s a known factor, a 70 year old contrarian set in his ways who’s not interested in working the system to his advantage.  Should he be elected president, he’d only be as divorced from his colleagues as he is currently; the only means he’d have of enacting a hundredth of his ideas would be to force a constitutional crisis every week – eventually, the country would get sick of him an he’d be impeached; and kill libertarian based ideas forever.

    What he ought to have done is take some of that momentum out of his last campaign and throw it all into building libertarian minded out reach and work angles so that the growing tea party movement, a base of people with many similar concerns, was reinforced with some core philosophical beliefs from which future thinkers like him can be elevated to higher office; because he’s never going to be the guy who gets the call.  But instead he tells people Iran should get the bomb.  Ultimately, he’s perfectly fine being that guy sitting slouched on a chair all by himself.  Mores the pity.  Oh well.  We’ll see how Rand gets along.

    The Five won’t be on much longer.  They are more tedious to watch than the last 6 months of Beck.  None of them are remotely conservative, excepting the very few times that the Judge has taken a seat.  They have nothing interesting to say about anything.  Their political views range from drunken liberal to sober neo-con ~ in other words, they advocate for the identical positions.

    Move Freedom Watch from Fox Business to the Five’s floundering spot.  I’ll bet the Judge could recapture much of Beck’s old audience, and grow it.  The current 5ers are making me hate Fox News, and I’m one of the folks who “demanded it” back in the mid-90s.

Well..O’Reilly had that radio candidate forum today, and then an online straw poll on his website afterward and promptly disqualified all the votes for Ron Paul, accusing his supporters of “slamming” the poll. I listened to the debate and voted for RP when it was over and you could only cast 1 vote. He just came up with this lame excuse because he didn’t want to admit Ron Paul had won the poll. So everyone that participated talked about “slamming” his email, which is, if anyone is interested, oreilly@foxnews.com   This was the most in your face dispicable thing I’ve seen done so far.

    Look at your Republican party voter’s registration card. It will have a precinct number on it, such as:  9N precinct.
    Next,
    call your local Republican Party, it should be listed under

    tell them you are interested in becoming more active in politics and
    you want to know if anyone is covering the precinct that is shown on
    your voter’s card.  What I mean by “covering your precinct” is:  does
    your county party have someone assigned as the precinct captain?  There
    are usually 2 positions available. In Florida, for example, there is
    both a male and female. The words “precinct captain” are
    interchangeable with the words Executive “Committee man” and “Committee
    woman”.  In other states, they may call them Committee Chairman and
    Vice Chairman, as well as, Precinct Captains. DO NOT disclose who you
    support for the upcoming Republican Party primary in your state. You
    may just want to state that you have not made up your mind yet, but
    want to begin attending the Executive Committee Meetings so you can
    learn more about what each candidate stands for. In other words, do not
    tip your hand and let them know you support Ron Paul. Not yet.
    What
    is the Executive Committee Meeting? Every county holds regular
    Republican Party of _____County meetings, usually every month. If there
    is a vacancy (and there almost always is-depending on the size of your
    County), you will automatically become the precinct captain, i.e.,
    Executive Committee Man or Executive Committee Woman – or – Precinct
    Chairman, or Vice Chairman. All counties refer to this position as
    Precinct Captain, to make things simpler. You will be advised to come
    into the Republican Party of your County’s headquarters, to fill out a

    Committee Meetings? It is important that you participate at the County
    level, for a number of reasons. The most important of which, is that by
    your holding that official position over your precinct, it entitles
    you to a print-out of all the registered Voters in your precinct that
    are registered as Republicans. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON FOR
    YOU TO BECOME A PRECINCT CAPTAIN-TO GET THIS LIST OF REGISTERED VOTERS.
    Why
    is this list so important?  Because the list will give you all the
    contact information for the registered voters in your area (precinct)
    and you will be able to contact these people in a number of ways. The
    goal here is to educate them in where the candidates stand on the
    issues. The most important thing, is for you to share what you know
    about Ron Paul and influence the voters in a positive way, about his
    candidacy. You will have the opportunity to tell your “neighbors” that
    the media is snubbing him, because they are afraid of him. Giving
    information about the other candidates can be helpful too, but is not
    necessary. It does help, to show them how the other candidates voted on
    certain key issues, so they can compare it with Ron Paul’s record, but
    this is only possible if you know of a statistician, or if the
    National Campaign provides a voting scorecard for you to use for this
    purpose. You can contact the National Campaign at http://www.ronpaul2012.com
     Of course, they are quite busy, being on the campaign trail, but they
    may provide such a document on their website.  A voting scorecard may
    also be found on his Campaign for Liberty website.
    http://www.campaignforliberty.comOf the many ways to contact your
    people in your precinct, you might say, there is  One Way, a Good Way,
    and the Best way. All contacts are to be considered good and valuable,
    but here are some options:The Best Way:  If all the voters in
    your area live close together, it is best to “walk your precinct”. This
    will give you the opportunity to knock on doors and meet your
    neighbors. This way you can have an up close-and-personal conversation
    about all the candidates and you can share with them why you think Ron
    Paul will make the best President. The hard part about this way is,
    alot of people want to live private lives and people today, just do not
    want to open up there doors to strangers. Also, it can be very time
    consuming. If you have a 2 minute conversation with each person, it may
    take you about 10 days to cover all the voters. Time is short-we just
    may not have time to pull this off, but if you can, or can call a
    meeting at a condo recreation room and make a presentation, then great,
    that would bring all the people to you.
    The Good Way:  Create a
    brochure about Ron Paul in the most professional way possible, and
    hand it out, door to door. Accompany this campaign literature with a
    letter, introducing yourself as their Precinct Captain for the
    Republican Party. Include your other official position title, be it
    Executive Committee man or woman, or Chairman or Vice Chairman, whatever
    it be. This shows them that you are in an official capacity. Your
    position is actually an elected position, but I will tell you more about
    that later. Tell them that you have personally studied all the
    candidates, and since you have put your time in it to do this for them,
    they should be able to put their confidence in you. Tell them that you
    realize that people are busy these days, and everybody does not have
    the time to do this. Share with them that our Media is owned by the
    government, and that America is following a very bad course in that we
    are losing our freedoms more each day, by Gov’t take-overs of all of our
    big operations-including the media. Let them know that the government
    wants to hand-pick the next president to keep the status-quo going.
    Tell them that Dr. Paul has delivered over 4,000 babies, that he has
    written 8 books, several of which are best sellers, and that he has
    been working for the people in Congress for 15 years. People love
    numbers. Most importantly, take Ron Paul’s positions on the issues
    directly from his Campaign for Liberty website. All the information you
    need to create a professional brochure is right there in that website.
    If you personally do not know how to use the computer or if you do not
    know how to create a colorful brochure, ask a friend to help you.
    Then, look on-line for a place to buy those clear plastic bags with a
    door knob hole cut out, such as can be found at, http://www.clearbags.com
    , then stuff the brochure and your letter in the plastic bag, and
    deliver them. You can hire a couple of middle school kids to pass them
    out, if you are unable to walk door-to-door, yourself. But, if you do
    this, be sure you park your car at the end of each street and keep an
    eye on the kids, as you move from street to street. Also, coach your
    delivery kids and let them know not to step on plants and flowers, or
    to pass out anything where there is a no soliciting sign up. Just get
    the information out there.
    One Way:  If you are not able to
    walk your precinct, or create a brochure, use the list of voter contact
    information provided to you by the Republican Party of your County,
    and make phone calls. If the telephone numbers are not listed on the
    print-out (they should be), then take the time to look up the phone
    numbers in the phone book. When you call, introduce yourself as their
    neighbor, and make small talk until you feel that they are willing to
    engage in a very brief conversation with you. Tell them you are very
    concerned about our country these days and that you wanted to become
    more involved to see if you could make a difference. Be sure you
    print-out how Ron Paul stands on the issues from the Campaign for
    Liberty website so you can use it as your talking points. Make your
    call brief, but do let them know that you are the official Republican
    Party Executive Committee man or woman and Precinct Captain for your
    area, and tell them after studying where all the candidates stand on
    the issues, you are making a recommendation for the Republican voters
    to VOTE FOR RON PAUL. Then, make sure you do a follow-up call one or
    two days Before the primary to GET OUT THE VOTE.
    GETTING OUT
    THE VOTE:  You might be wondering why we are only targeting the voters
    that are registered Republican. What about the Independent voters, and
    the Democrats who may not be happy with our incumbent President? The
    answer is, in many states unless a voter is registered Republican, they
    will not be permitted to vote in the primaries. We want to shore up
    our base of Republican Voters, as these will be the people who show up
    and vote in the Primary election. Many registered voters just sit home
    on the day of the primary elections. That is why your job is so
    important to GET THE VOTE OUT. If people sit home, then we don’t stand a
    chance of winning since the media is doing everything in their power
    to make sure the voters who do show up, vote for who they tell them the
    front runner is. By all means, if you know someone who likes Ron Paul,
    but who is registered as an Independent, or a Democrat, encourage them
    to re-register immediately so they will be permitted to vote for him
    in the primary. If they want to change back, after they have voted in
    the Primary, they may do so. Voters of all parties, including the
    registered Independent voters can vote in the Presidential election.
    Finally,
    the emphasis on this Lesson One, is to make additional contacts to
    your voters a day or 2 before the Primary to GET OUT THE VOTE. It is
    good that your voters will have heard from you before and that they
    recognize you when you call right before the primary. Ask if they need a
    ride to the voting place. If it rains, many people will want to stay
    home. Offer to bring them an umbrella and to give them a ride. I cannot
    stress enough, how important it is to assume the responsibility of
    becoming a precinct captain and working to get Ron Paul elected. He has a lot of supporters, and we are all very passionate about our
    candidate, but there are not enough of us to win this race for him. WE
    MUST ADD TO THE LIST OF HIS SUPPORTERS SO HE HAS THE BEST VOTER
    TURN-OUT to win this PRIMARY ELECTION. The primaries are coming up very
    soon and we do not have a lot of time. It is CRITICAL that we do what
    we need to do, because it is the ONLY WAY to win the Republican Party
    NOMINATION for RON PAUL. It takes work, it takes effort. But, when you
    think that you will have the opportunity to influence voters in your
    precincts, and tell them the truth about our beloved statesman, then it
    will be worth it when we no longer have to worry about watching our liberties drift away, more and more each day. We are nearing becoming a
    police state and a dictator run nation. We cannot let this happen.
    And, we can’t win the nomination for him by only wearing our buttons
    and t-shirts, voting in on-line polls and contributing to his campaign.
    It all helps, but GETTING OUT THE VOTE is the only sure way of winning
    the NOMINATION for Ron Paul. The next lesson will be “How to Become a

And in case you didn’t know, the ones that actually take the time to go vote are made up by a large majority of older people..     I’m a life-long registered Republican and a Ron Paul supporter since 2007.  Tantaros and Bolling and the other GOP Sheeple hacks are idiots!  Banning Ron Paul from debates because he actually has convictions will only make the entire Republican Party look close-minded and backfire bad.  Ron paul supporters will donate TONS more money, and Independents will be turned-off big time for such tactics.

    I always used to hold my nose and vote for the GOP candidate even if I didn’t like him / her, but finally I voted for Bob Barr (Libertarian) in 2008 because I hated McCain so much.  Well, let me tell you, the first time pulling the lever for another party is the hardest – after that it is easy-peasy and VERY GRATIFYING!  In the 2010 election my mother even voted Libertarian in the NY Governor’s race!  The GOP had better WAKE UP to reality! 

    Now that the delegates are no longer winner-take-all the GOP better not piss of Ron Paul supporters!  That being said, if I was a Ron Paul delegate, even if he backed one of the other current GOP LOSERS currently running, I would NOT give my vote to any of them!  I’d just write-in his name or draft Pat Buchanan or something ;)

    Since there’s over 10 trillion kilograms of gold in the Earth’s crust alone, I have a hard time believing your claim that there’s not enough gold in the world for whatever we want to do with it.  Let’s say we only have reasonable access to 10% of it ~ that would leave 1 trillion kilos, (2.2 trillion lbs.) , or an available money supply of 880 trillion dollars with gold set at 25$ an oz. 

    The amount of gold actually mined is considerably smaller, but that’s not the point ~ We could go for it, and expand the available money supply practically indefinitely.  When we “run out” of gold on earth, the economy should be big enough to finance mining expeditions to the moon, or mars, or wherever the gold rush leads.

    Which “conservative” goal has been advanced in the past 2 decades?  Compromise with liberals have brought us nothing conservative.  NOTHING.

    I think that Herman Cain and Ron Paul should put aisde their differences and seek an alliance. Now before I’m torn apart hear, hear me out on this. First off, they are both anti-establishment candidates. Because of this, they could unite the Tea Party base of the Republican Party. It would be a power house for 2012. Second, wouldn’t you rather have the media focus be between Paul and Cain rather than dumb and dumber (Romney and Perry)? The media and the Repub establishment are scared of Paul’s support, so now they’re even throwing in Newt Gingrich as a “front runner.” Now Paul supporters constantly call Cain the “FED candiate,” except for the fact that he was a class C director in the early 90′s – aka – he had no power. Period. Also, I strongly suggest that God forbid Paul should not win the nomination, the grassroots community regroup and pressure the said Republican nominee to choose Ron for Secretary of the Treasury. The reason the Doc got into politics in the first place was over economics, it has been his life’s work in congress, and him as treas sec would resonate well with the American people as a whole. Let’s face it, his economic policies are much more popular than his foreign policy among Republican voters.

    Herman Cain is not anti-establishment, he is pure pro-establishment.  Just because you have no power within a group does not mean that you don’t whole-heartedly agree with the ideals and principles of that group.  Hence, Herman Cain, was in the Federal Reserve, it doesn’t matter if he didn’t become their greatest member, just the membership shows he has been influenced either willingly or not to accept that group.  His financial plan calls for a national sales tax and a flat tax???  That is in stark opposition to the steps Paul believes are needed to avert the collapsing of our sovereign money.

    You missed the point of the post entirely: he’s hit the ceiling of his support.  In the republican party, he has 10% or so supporting, which means there’s 90% or so who have chosen against him.  Numbers are numbers and Paul is not going to win.  Don’t have to be a mathematician to know 90%>10%.  The only hope for Paul is that the other candidates split up and he breaks away as the winner with a pathetic 10% in dang near every state.  So, the inevitable conclusion?  He won’t win.

    As for him not caring, it’s simple: he doesn’t.  His wording suggests he may as well have another term of Obama.  He expects perfection when that’s not attainable.  Not only is that misguided, but that’s dangerous.  ”Oh, can’t get me?  Then be saddled with Obamacare!”  Never mind that all those running can be trusted to work their hardest to get rid of it, Romney excluded, and even some politicians have excellent track records in that field like Rick Perry.  ”Oh, can’t get me?  Then take these ridiculously high tax rates!”  Never mind that the rest are for cutting it extensively, maybe Cain excluded, who’s plan is terrible.

    Seriously, remember how they kept insisting that Rudy Guiliani was a front runner in 2008.  The publicized poll after poll proclaiming Guiliani was ahead of the pack and was raising big money.   What happened to all those suppporters when it came time to vote in the primary?  They were either a complete fiction or perhaps they had been polling a bunch of homebound republicans unable to even fill out an absentee ballot.

    you do not understand the gold standard.. if you price gold to dollars at the wrong prices, sure there won’t be enough gold.. however if you set the value of the dollar to gold at a realistic price, there’s plenty in the US alone. There are many ways of going about fixing the currency.. including having competing currencies. You see, Ron isn’t stuck on having a gold standard as the only option. There are other options he’s looked into to work with as well.

    There’s also a difference between compromising and coalition. You can work with others without compromising your ideals or principals.

    If Doc. Paul was president poor people (like myself) would be able to walk into the doc. office and get treatment and actually be able to afford the bill if the Fed. government would stay out of it! Why does it cost 5,000 for a single x-ray? Cause you have to pay for every government employee that comes between I (the patient) and my doc. If it wasn’t for the fed. government we would pay around 50 dollars for the same service.

    Fox has it backwards. Since Paul is the ONLY candidate who supports traditional conservative GOP values of small government, fiscal responsibility, and a non-interventionist foreign policy, all the other candidates should be excluded from future debates. The air time could then be much better spent with Paul teaching Americans about their heritage, freedom and the Constitution… which would also benefit the people at Fox immensely.

Herman Cain wins one and the media talks about it night and day and are all ready to throw a parade for the guy. The coverage he got boosted him in the polls. Report on Ron Paul’s victories and you’d see his support surge – and not go down. They can’t allow that to happen, so they supporss the news of is successes.     1. Those straw polls mean nothing.  Are they actual elections involving everyone of the party?  No, only those who make the effort to go.  So, there’s a reason they don’t talk about them: they don’t matter.

    Take a look at Perry’s donor list so you know who will be in charge if he would win.  Perry has the same donor base as Obama and Romney.   That’s is why we say that they are all the same.  Their policies will benefit their donor base.  Also, be sure to find out how much funding Perry gets from RNC, and then you need to examine the list of RNC donors.   Remember, this how he worked the Merck shakedown, when he mandated vaccinations for Texan girls, Merck ran the “donations” through the RNC.

    You really need to do a lot more research on your “candidate”.

    1. I don’t particularly care about donor lists.  If I did, I’d make a point of pointing out that Alex Jones supports Ron Paul.
    2. The whole story around the gardasil is bs.  Vaccines are mandated and this one is revolutionary in that it can prevent cancer.
    3. One of the reasons I don’t care for Paul supporters is that you morons grasp at straws trying to support ridiculous conclusions.  Political donations happen, they always will and just because someone donates one way doesn’t mean it’s nefarious.

    Ron Paul was alive when government WAS out of healthcare, he should know better. There is a reason the poor and the elderly were given government health insurance (medicaid and medicare) and it actually increased both access to care and income in healthcare. The free market (not that any markets are really free, because when a market fails consumers need protection) is based on selfishness, which is antithetical to the healthcare industry.

    Much flack in this thread directed at me for for talking honestly about Paul – and going off on tangents over the hyperbole I use in describing the problem.

    With regard to what little compromise has brought, the problem is that conservatives first compromise not with the other side, but with party establishment; who then compromises not with liberals, but with progressives.  For the situation to change needs occasion that principled, libertarian-minded conservative individuals actually get to congress (or even more importantly, further down ticket than that, so that successful libertarian conservative governorship of communities may serve as a model by which to compare to the failure that is Washington) and not be bought off in the primary phase with ideologically purist platform positions nobody pays attention to when they get to down to work.

    The type represented here see short term occupancy of the presidency as the optimal solution so that corrections may be given to society from on high when you should first be thinking about county boards and mayorships.  The investment of Paul supporters in the man himself gives evidence to it – and serve as another detraction from his candidacy.  So in this instance, the compromise which must first be made is that of your (and others chirping at me here) expectations and achievable results.

    The reason the gov is in heathcare, higher edu, and housing is because the Federal Reserve prints money every year… hands it to the banks… they buy some gov debt to fund defic spending… and housing, heathcare, and higher edu get hit with the devaluation of the currency more than other sectors of the economy…

    End the Fed! and balance the gov budgets and they wont have higher rates of un-affordability. This is why central banking countries try to alleviate the obviousness of the theft or there would be pitchforks in the streets….

    I don’t want a “libertarian” as my mayor ~ I want a Constitutionalist as my President.  I am not a Paul supporter because I’m a libertarian.  I am politically libertarian on national topics, because only libertarians advocate for the “constitutional” position out of the federal government ~ namely leave us the hell alone feds, do your job, and follow the Constitution.

    Liberals like you have a hard time understanding first principles, because you don’t have any. 

    So, I take it (since you dropped the point) you give me that a gold standard is possible?  Now, the funny thing is that even though I will argue for a gold standard ~ Paul is advocating for currency competition.  He just wants for folks to have the ability to use gold as currency, without having to report to a federal prison.

    If he doesn’t agree with a candidate, why would he offer support?  That’s just stupid.  Unlike some (most) politicians, Dr. Paul doesn’t forget his promises after the election.  He’s been steady for decades, and right most of the time.

    As for foreign polich:  he doesn’t think we can ignore threats to our safety, but he also doesn’t believe that we can run roughshod over sovereign countries and not reap the consequences.  Remember, he was one of the first to draw up Letters of Marque and Reprisal after 9/11 (which, by the way, was the Constitutional way to respond to such an attack).

    You shouldn’t take anything for granted.  I’m simply not arguing the gold standard with you because it would be pointless.  As you say, you’re further out on that limb than is Paul himself and though no matter how much philosophic sympathy one might have with the underlying economic argument, you have your purist ideas, and the littlest dent isn’t going to be pounded into it by means of a couple brief blog posts.  I’ve had my fill of reasoning with (L)ibertarians.  Mining to grow the economy?  Ok.  Whatever.

    This ties in nicely on the point which most concerns me, that which you speak, that you don’t have the time for “libertarian” mayors or your proclivity to refer to anyone not of your crypto-anarchical views on politics as “liberals” (when in fact, the ideological insult you ought to be throwing about is “statist”).  The country is not looking for a constitutionalist dictator nor will you sneak one into the presidency; certainly not with allies who snidely deride concepts as moderation, compromise and realism with “you don’t understand,” “complete sell-out” and “neo-con tea party infiltrator.”  And that’s the problem, since nobody knows what libertarian conservative governance looks like, nor are they easily convinced by folks who get in their faces proclaiming anything less that abject capitulation to he who is Paul will lead to the inevitable destruction of the country.

    People don’t vote for that which is alien to them, and Paul excels at alienation (partly owing to his philosophy, but no small measure is due to the man’s personality); likewise his supporters, who usually picks up on the purist, ideologic vibe and wind up doing everything possible to cut themselves off from potential natural allies. Quadrennial politics is not the most suited field in which immature political neophytes should choose to play.

    1) Alex Jones contributing $2,300 to Ron Paul doesn’t at all equate to the lobbyists and corporations that fund Perry’s campaigns. I care a great deal about donors, and that’s why I think it’s important to note that the largest contributors to Ron Paul are members of our military. Certainty you think their contributions are noteworthy.
    2) Often times miracle cures create their own set of problems. This is why it’s a person’s individual responsibility to decide on which vaccine they trust. Virtually no one agrees with you on this – no other GOP candidate, certainty not voters in Texas, and not even Obama himself.3) It’s childish to support a candidate based on what you think of his supporters. You, like so many others, treat elections like the superbowl. People’s lives are at stake, the idea that you would ignore a candidate record and policies and vote based on your opinion of his loudest supporters is immature.

    I like Ron Paul’s foreign policies, staying out of other countries affairs, business and wars, it’s the best thing our country could do. Bring all the troops home and stop wasting lives and tax money on wars that we have no business in. Stop importing oil and use our own resorces. We don’t get much oil from the middle east, most of our oil comes from Canada & Mexico and if the EPA wasn’t interfearing with the oil companies we would have more than enough gas & oil.

    You are aware of the fact that medical mistakes are currently one of the leading causes of death and injury in this country, right?  For all the money we spend on “regulating” healthcare, we are absolutely no safer.  Caveat emptor is still the reigning mantra especially in mainstream medicine with their over reliance on expensive surgeries and dangerous pharmaceuticals for epidemic chronic conditions essentially caused by poor nutrition thanks to federally subsidized agricultural policies.  We pay for policies that subsidize poor nutrition and we pay for policies that encourage the most expensive and ineffective treatments for poor nutrition.  Then, we pay top dollar to ensure that we all are helplessly uneducated about nutrition, biology,medical research & technology and how to spot a clear conflict of interest.  No wonder we are broke.   Because of “regulation” of “healthcare”, the vast majority of people will believe any nonsense spewed by a person in a white coat with a bunch of diplomas hanging on the wall.  It would probably be better if people were much more suspicious of doctors and their advice and actually did their own research.
