Hannity Gets in Shoutfest with Dem Rep. Over Debt Ceiling: ‘Let Me Get This Through Your Liberal Head!’

Sean Hannity took on liberal fearmongering over the debt ceiling on Tuesday night, taking on Democratic congressman Adam Smith over Democratic irresponsibility when it comes to fiscal issues. Hannity and Smith battled over how much could be paid for and settled if the country defaults, with an impatient Hannity saying at one point, “Let me get this through your liberal head.”

Smith argued that there are a lot of things that won’t be paid if the government shuts down, and they fought over exactly what Hannity meant by paying off the nation’s “obligations.” Hannity said, “Maybe you need a calculator in DC.”

He argued that the shutdown shows there are plenty of non-essential services that the country could get by without for a while, bringing up the massive debt accumulated over the past few years. Smith shot back that the deficit problem is a “different thing than simply saying we’re not going to pay our bills.”

After they fought for a bit, Hannity let him speak and Smith said, “It’s hard, because you never stop talking.” He said Republicans need to stop the “nonsense” on their side if they want to avert this crisis.
