Howard Dean On Budget Talks: ‘Republicans Are Not Big On Logic’

Video

While some on Morning Joe were less than enthused with President Obama’s press conference performance yesterday, Howard Dean also stopped by to let the panel know he thought Obama was great, since “we all love it when he comes out fighting.” And especially since Dean thinks the Republicans are being completely unreasonable with their demands on the budget, Dean is happy to have Obama turning up the heat on Congress.

Dean agreed with a statement made by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi celebrating Obama’s speech, yet oddly referred to it as ‘a little inflammatory’ before suggesting himself:

“The Republicans are not big on logic. The reason Jon Stewart is so popular is it’s true, there’s only two ways to fix the deficit. You can cut spending or you can increase revenue. And you got to do both. . . . It is a ridiculous proposition that the Republicans are making and the American people don’t believe anything they say.”

So much for Stewart thinking he’s merely a comedian, as Dean here cites the “comedian” as basically a policy expert. And later in the segment, Dean seems surprised to learn that fellow panelist Jim Cramer is a “lifelong Democrat” despite always thinking he was a Republican. Yet since Dean also thinks Republicans are “not big on logic,” Cramer probably should be offended.

I think I liked it better when Weiner was used as the Democrat bull dog, he was more entertaining than Dean.

Howard Dean is irrelevant. Elevator doesn’t go to the top. All hat, no horse. When will the msm put him out to pasture, he just is the worst cheerleader (YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH) in the history of politics. At least occasionally recognize something negative on the left wing and maybe you’ll create an inkling of credibility. Not gonna happen. I would imagine he keeps hanging around because, let’s face it, would you want to tell a friend he was your doctor? Didn’t think so.

  • http://www.zazzle.com/talkingpoints NORBIT Jr.

Let’s hear some LOGIC to explain THIS:

Ever wonder why no one ever came forward from Obama’s past, saying they
knew him, attended school with him, was his friend, etc. ? Not one person
has ever come forward from his past.

VERY, VERY STRANGE… This should really be a cause for great concern. To
those who voted for him, you may have elected an unqualified, inexperienced

    shadow man.

Did you see a picture called The Manchurian Candidate?

Let’s face it. As insignificant as we all are… someone whom we went to
school with remembers our name or face … someone remembers we were the
clown or the dork or the brain or the quiet one or the bully or something
    about us.

George Stephanopoulos of ABC News said the same thing during the 2008
campaign He questions why no one has acknowledged the president was in
their classroom or ate in the same cafeteria or made impromptu speeches
on campus. Stephanopoulos also was a classmate of Obama at Columbia–the
class of 1984. He says he never had a single class with him.

While he is such a great orator, why doesn’t anyone in Obama’s college
class remember him? And, why won’t he allow Columbia to release his
    records?

    NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA

Looking for evidence of Obama’s past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia
University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there,
but none remembered him. For example, Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama,
a political science major at Columbia, who also graduated in 1983. In
2008, Root says of Obama, “I don’t know a single person at Columbia that
knew him, and they all know me. I don’t have a classmate who ever knew
Barack Obama at Columbia … EVER!

Nobody recalls him. Root adds that he was also, like Obama, “Class of ’83
political science, pre-law” and says, “You don’t get more exact or closer
than that. Never met him in my life, don’t know anyone who ever met him.”

At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to
be the speaker of the class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack! And five
years ago, nobody even knew who he was. The guy who writes the class
notes, who’s kind of the, as we say in New York, ‘the macha’ who knows
everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him.”

Obama’s photograph does not appear in the school’s yearbook, and Obama
consistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia ,
provide school records, or provide the name of any former classmates or
    friends while at Columbia …

NOTE: Root graduated as valedictorian from his high school,
Thornton-Donovan School , then graduated from Columbia University in 1983
as a political science major in the same class in which Barack Hussein
    Obama states he was.

    Some other interesting questions…

Why was Obama’s law license inactivated in 2002?

Why was Michelle’s law license inactivated by court order?

It is circulating that according to the U.S. Census, there is only one
Barack Obama but 27 Social Security numbers and over 80 aliases.

    WHAT!?

The Social Security number he uses now originated in Connecticut where he
is never reported to have lived.

No wonder all his records are sealed!

Please continue sending this out to everyone. Somewhere, someone had to
know him in school…before he “reorganized” Chicago and burst upon the
scene at the 2004 Democratic Convention and made us swoon with his charm,
    poise, and speaking pizzazz.

Hey Howard Dean, please explain to us the Democrat logic of borrowing another $4 billion EVERY DAY (and $58,000 EVERY SECOND) to prop up broken Democrat entitlements and the Obama-Reid-Pelosi spending spree. That would be amusing for all of us to hear.

Well, it’s all relative. They’re not far out left as you, Darla (and I don’t mean that in a pejorative sense)… but they’re certainly left-of-center -at least on many issues- at the moment.

It’s all relative. You have previously admitted that you don’t talk to, or spend any kind of time with people who don’t think exactly as you do… so you have this idea that you’re “in the middle,” or at least, “not that far out.” But, when compared to the country at large, that’s not exactly true. I’m sure you’ll brush that off as ‘nonsense’ or something, but it is the reality of the situation.

The financial industry lobbied and changed Glass -Steagal under Clinton.
That allowed the industry to reap huge PERSONAL windfalls through TRADING, rather than INVESTING! -From that derived program trading, derivitives, an explosion in hedge-funds and takeovers, and the implosion of the whole syatem.

It started under Clinton, but Bush & Obama ALLOWED IT TO CONTINUE – to this day!
(FinReg is a power-grab, nothing more.)

This resulted in capital being re-directed to structuring and funding “trades” instead of “investing” into the broader society. Consequently, the financial industry profits from 1995 – 2007 exploded! (Don’t have the exact %, but it was obscene!)

    THEN, Bush-Obama BAILED THEM OUT!
Obama & the Fed poured TRILLIONS into Wall Street, and got NOTHING in return.

YES – these financial parasites have to pay; but the elected WHORES who allowed this need to pay as well!

  • WildMan

Howard Dean is a bigger Socialist than Vermont’s Bernie Sanders. Plus Dean is a crazed nutjob as we all saw the night he went crazy on the campaign tour acting like the jackass he is. Morning Blowhard and Airhead has become a coffee stop and gossip outlet for Socialist Commies. And Joe Blowhard has gone over to the enemy (Dummycrats). It isn’t hard to figure out why that worthless show can barely get 400,000 viewers daily. It is PMSnbc’s lowest rated shows of the shows that are rated each day/night. Pitiful, pitiful numbers!

[Sen Durbin (D) addressing illegal aliens]

“When I look around this room, I see America’s future. Our doctors, our teachers, our nurses, our engineers, our scientists, our soldiers, our Congressman, our Senators and maybe our President.”

I know that reading the Constitution has fallen out of fashion on Capitol Hill; Democrats pitched a fit when the new Republican majority in the House wanted to start the 112th Session by reading it aloud. But Durbin might want to read Article II, Section 1 of the founding document, as it’s pretty clear on eligibility for the nation’s top executive position:

“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”

The reason Jon Stewart is popular, Howie, is because college kids find him entertaining. Which is fine, but what’s scary is that at the end of a 22-minute program, they also believe they’re informed on what’s happening in the world. That’s how you end up with embarrassing displays like that “Why I’m a Democrat” video made by those College Democrat morons that surfaced on the net the other day.

As for the Republicans, maybe they’re being ideologically rigid on tax hikes, but that could also be because they believe it’s economic suicide to raise anyone’s taxes in an economy that’s on the verge of a double-dip recession. Not to mention the inescapable fact that increased taxes won’t cover a $1.65 trillion deficit. Unless you plan on hitting everyone(even lower income earners) with a massive tax hike, the vast majority of that will have to come from spending cuts. And so far, the Dems haven’t proposed any of substance.

Yeah! Bring Dean out for comments! He is such a perfect example of liberal “logic” every time he opens his mouth. ONLY Dean would quote a comedian as backup to his argument.

The Dems refused trillions, yes trillions! in spending cuts if they didn’t get to raise taxes. Could it be possible that we could actually cut spending without raising taxes? The Dems are playing politics as well- “tax the rich they can afford it”
I wonder how well that sentiment went over with Obama’s Wall Street BFF’s at his 35,000.00 a plate fundraiser last week. He screws them in the media, and behind closed doors begs them to support him.
I am still waiting for this administrations definition of “rich”?

Here is a question for Dems- If you raise my taxes what would you spend it on? I doubt it would be the debt! More likely it would be spent on social programs, or the over-bloated, yet defined, universal healthcare program, which in the long term will add to the deficit not adjust it, or bring it down…

When you justify raising taxes on only one select segment of the population- in essence tapping them to cover government debt, then when do you stop? That is a door best left shut, the implications are to far reaching for this shortsighted crew.

BTW- What happened to all those liberal billionaires offering to pay more from their altruistic hearts? I suggest Congress take them up on the offer – volunteering your wealth is very different, from legally demanding that it be taken away. Beside then they can credit themselves with having saved the US economy! YEEEEAAAAHHHH!

District swings from deficit to surplus with newly enacted employee contributions

Cost savings from worker contributions to health care and retirement, taking effect today as part of the new collective bargaining laws, will swing the Kaukauna School District from a $400,000 budget deficit to an estimated $1.5 million surplus, the Post-Crescent in Appleton reports. The district tells the Post-Crescent that it plans to hire teachers and reduce class size.

The White House effectively turned down an invitation by Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell for President Barack Obama to visit his members on Capitol Hill on Thursday to discuss raising the debt limit.

Jay Carney told the media earlier today that McConnell’s invitation was “not a conversation worth having.” Sounds a lot like Obama’s own press conference.

President Barack Obama’s proposal to end a tax break for corporate jet owners, a repeated refrain in his news conference yesterday, would achieve less than one-tenth of 1 percent of his target for reducing the federal deficit.

Such a change would put $3 billion into the Treasury over a decade, said two congressional aides familiar with the proposal. Democrats want to require companies that use jets for business purposes to write off the cost over seven years, instead of five years allowed under current law, said a congressional aide and a White House aide. Airplanes used for charter or commercial flights already must be depreciated over seven years.

America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.”

  • 2012freedom

    A few facts:

    1) Obama’s stimulus bill of 2009 reauthorized the corporations to get the tax breaks. Is he bipolar? Which one is it? First he gives it back to them, and then shortly afterwards trys to convince the ignorant masses that it is a horrible thing that the corporations are doing.

    2) The Democrats always play the “super rich” card as an excuse to raise taxes. They tried the luxury tax before and it failed miserably. Tax revenue went down and people lost jobs. They had to do away with it and send refunds to the businesses that collected it. It was a complete disaster. The same thing will happen again.

    3) The amount of money that will be “saved” by trying to stick it to the evil rich people is only about $300 million per year or about $3 billion over ten years. Roughly the same amount that Planned Parenthood gets from the government dole. We were told by Democrats that it was such a tiny amount it really doesn’t matter. Again, which one is it? Either it matters or not. If the tax break goes, then so does the Planned Parenthood subsidy.

Why doesn’t he just come out and admit that he has a man-love thing going on for Obama instead of beating around the bush with statements about thrills up his leg and hearing the Earth move? Very creepy indeed but passes for journalism at MSNBC. LOL.

    or rescind big oil subsidies?

Republicans like our tax dollars going for rebates to oil companies that make billions in profits quarterly. They just don’t like their tax dollars going for programs like WIC and schools lunches for the poor.

Just more personal attacks from the right with nothing to offer.

Show me where I’m wrong. Is it the Republicans or the Democrats that refuse to cut out subsidies for big oil?

  • Alice67

    That’s what i thought.

LOL. Attack? Seriously? Anyway….you Liberals go on and on about oil subsidies but don’t say one word about subsidies that other big corporations get. What about GE? They didn’t pay any taxes at all and made a profit of billions. Why no screaming about them? Because they support Obama? I will give you that Republicans don’t want to end the subsidies for oil just like I will also give you that the Democrats don’t want to end the same sort of freebies that allow GE to pay $0 taxes. Tit for tat. Both sides are reponsible for where we are!

Republicans want the economy to get worse. That is the only way they think they can win.

Really? Lets have a look shall we?

Obama has refused to meet to work on the budget, while telling everyone else to get to work. Obama tho has a Tee Time.

The Democrats control 2/3rds of the Government with Reid in the Senate and Obama’s in the White House.

The Dems refuse to negotiate honestly, and refuse to allow open negotiations.

The Republicans are actively working on a budget…they have the only offer out there so far.

Reid refuses to mark up a Budget in the Senate, and Obama cannot be bothered.

This is not new. If you will remember, just last year when the Progressive Democrats controlled everything in Washington, they did not produce a Budget. The republicans had to start that one too, and also like now, the Dem’s doing all they can to stop it.

The changes this year are the Republicans control the House, and the House has proposed a Budget… Pelosi, Bless Her Heart, is screaming in a closet. On the Senate side, Reid has his fingers in his ears, has refused to offer a budge. In the White House Obama cant be bothered, he’s out playing Putt Putt and trying to remember how old his daughter is.

No matter how you slice it, the Dems have done nothing to move the process forward, and everything they can to stop it.

Okay, that is just friggin’ funny. I don’t want to try to picture it because I don’t like to ever picture Nasty Nan, but just the idea of her in a closet gave me a good hearty laugh.

I know what Howard Dean is big on, crack. I don’t know what other explanation you can give for the “Dean Scream”.

Lol, she is trying to get out, but Obama and Reid are tired of her too; Pelosi is scary mean.

I was going to say scary PERIOD but sure, we can break it up into pieces. LOL. I swear somewhere a crypt went missing it’s keeper about the time she showed up in Washington.

What happened to Alice67? I thought she was going to give me her thorough analysis of big oil subsidies and how they differ entirely from every other company getting tax breaks. I guess not.

Howard is correct ..the GOP knows the they have no viable candidate to beat Obama in 2012…solution: jus go against any policy/idea/ recommendation..etc etc that the President advocates, so that the American people suffer and blame Obama..BRILLIANT!
ps…and blame the media for any downfalls …lolololololol
