Jake Tapper Hits Back at Critics of CNN Church Burning Coverage: ‘Turn on the TV’

 

CNN host Jake Tapper didn’t take kindly to Twitter critics who claimed the media was ignoring recent African-American church burnings, telling critics to try actually watching CNN.

Tapper kicked things off when someone forwarded a tweet from activist Deray McKesson complaining that the “mainstream media is largely silent” about the uptick in black church burnings in the South. The problem, as Tapper pointed out, was that CNN was covering the church burnings that exact second:

That earned Tapper more criticism from Deray’s followers, which he also pushed back on:

For what it’s worth, a Google News search of “Black churches fire” pulls up 724 news reports about last night’s fire, including Mediaite’s.
