Janet Napolitano: Homeland Security Is Always ‘Leaning Forward’

video

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano popped into Good Morning America this week to discuss what her department was doing to prevent further terrorist plots against the U.S. They’re waiting for tips, building partnerships and… watching Keith Olbermann? “We’re always leaning forward,” Napolitano said, echoing MSNBC’s Lean Forward campaign.

When she was asked if the Department of Homeland Security could expect more terrorist plot-foiling tips, Napolitano answered:

I think we can. And we always presume that we should. And that’s why we’re always leaning forward, thinking about what the next plot could be, making the partnerships more and more robust…

Leaning and thinking may not sound like the most active strategy, but it’s much better than Glenn Beck‘s “bend over” suggestion.

    LOL

Now the Dims are in such bad shape, they are taking their cues from MSNBC!

Great job on the Yemen bombs, Madam Secretary. You’ve made us all feel safer.

You’re just a sad little troll, aren’t you, Nutso? I bet you were really depressed when Homeland Security worked so effectively last week.

Janet . When are you going to deport Meg Whitman’s maid ? Are you going to have that missing link -looking guy on Maher’s show picked up for using drugs on TV ? Why don’t you man up ( sorry , Ma’am ) and get a posse together and go into Mexico and get the murdered jet-skier’s body and the rats that killed him ? Why don’t you put your boot on Mexico’s neck and stop their encroachment into our country ? Get tough with our enemies and we’ll elect you President !

I think Janet is doing just fine. Somehow a rich woman’s former maid seems to me to be less dangerous than underwear and package bombs. Looks to me as if, for a welcome change, security efforts are focused on the real threats.

No matter which way I look at the promo’s by MSNBC, I just do not get it “Lean Forward” to what end, for goodness sake, do they not realize they are a news organization (at least they call themselves that) should they need a catchy handle?

As for Janet doing her job, it seems other countries were on the ball, but we still left one stone on turned, that is UPS and the like.

I saw that Germany isn’t allowing flights from Yemen. Does anyone here think Germany made the right call?

Let’s hope this administration foils more that we do not know about.

There aren’t any direct flights from the US to Yemen, anyway, Michele.

    Mr. The Royal King:

Certainly 9/11 was horrific, but, do you really believe that under the Bush Admin. we were more at risk than we are now?

I appreciate the clarification, I recall that they said UPS did not fly directly to the states, should have thought it through.

I am still curious how germans will react to the decision.

In the early years, yes, I do. We had a president who had been defeated by popular vote and had assumed office only by virtue of Court appointment. Our enemies felt that had made us weak and divided. They exploited that, but, of course, their belief we could not or would not come together was ridiculous. But, we also had a detached and arrogant administration which refused to even consider the possibility of an attack, despite abundant evidence that some planning was taking place. You do know that Ms. Rice did not even pass on some of the pertinent information. To give W his due, he began to turn things around. Once W slapped down Cheney by firing Rumsfeld and not pardoning Libby, things began improving dramatically, and some measure of out current safety is due to W effectively, but belatedly, diminishing the Cheney influence and proceeding on good information, reliable data.

The Germans will support this. They are a very security-minded people. I suspect even the majority of the German Turks will support it.

i thin they were planning 9/11 long before bush was president, just making a point, i think obama does pretty good, on self defense

Ink bomb plot tip ‘came from Saudi militant’

    Read more: http://www.breakingnews.ie/world/ink-bomb-plot-tip-came-from-saudi-militant-479994.html#ixzz144NjbE6b

    01/11/2010 – 15:51:05
The tip-off that foiled the airline ink bomb plot came from a leading al-Qaida militant who surrendered to Saudi Arabia, Yemeni intelligence sources said today.

Jabir al-Fayfi, who turned himself in last month, told Saudi officials about the plan by al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, the terror group’s affiliate in Yemen.

US officials have said an alert from Saudi Arabia led to the interception of two explosive devices on planes in Britain and Dubai.

Wow, I do not know how much merit is given to thumbs up/down but I can’t quite understand the 10 down on your remark, at the time of this reply. You provided a respectful reply, I may not agree with all of it but I do not see what there is to be critical of.

I would agree the way Bush took office, that would offer weakness to our enemies. Although, after the USS Cole bombing, we had a clear understanding that there were folks that really hated the US, which occurred under the Clinton Admin. I think we weren’t aggressive enough in the weeks and months afterwards, of course this is looking from the outside in.

I also agree that intel should have been given to Bush, I don’t think they did a proper AAR.

We may differ on the Cheney/Rumsfeld discussion, but you have given me something to think about.

Knowledge is our greatest weapon, just a thought from the heartland.

    Wrong!

Our enemies had been attacking us on USA SOIL since 1993- Maybe you heard of it; its was called the World Trade Center bombing in 1993. And this “enemy” ( not fellow American’s as BHO says) continued to attack the USA.- The 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in East Africa, resulting in upward of 300 deaths, mostly locals.

In October 2000, al-Qaeda militants in Yemen bombed the missile destroyer U.S.S. Cole in a suicide attack, killing 17 U.S. servicemen

B.S.- we knew that they were trying to attack the USA since 1996. What, we should have closed all the airports for 14 years now?

“The idea for the September 11 plot came from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who first presented the idea to Osama bin Laden in 1996.] At that point, Bin Laden and al-Qaeda were in a period of transition, having just relocated back to Afghanistan from Sudan. The 1998 African Embassy bombings and Bin Laden’s 1998 fatwā marked a turning point, with bin Laden intent on attacking the United States. In December 1998, the Director of Central Intelligence Counterterrorist Center reported to President Bill Clinton that al-Qaeda was preparing for attacks in the USA.”

Bitch-boy RRKong thinks Napolitano had anything to do with stopping the bombs from Yemen. Hilarious. It was the Saudis, prompted by an Al-Q operative graduated out of Guantanamo who told Saudi intelligence, which notified the sleeping walrus that is Napolitano. The bitch takes credit for stopping the terror bombs, but it was the Saudis and a reformed ex-terrorist who did the real heavy lifting.

Of course, lez-queen Janet will grab all the credit just like her predecessor Janet Swamp-Thing did under Clyntoon.

There is no way this President or any future President can keep this country safe, regardless of party. I can list at least 8 ways to launch a reign of terror in this country that no one could prevent.

    We’re sitting ducks.

Well, well… I see you’ve set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public. What a clever empty vessel you are, but you’ll never be the man your mother is. I don’t know what your problem is, but I’ll bet it’s hard to pronounce. Whatever it is that is eating you, it must be suffering horribly.

We all sprang from apes, but you didn’t spring far enough. I’ll bet you’re the first in your family born without tail.

So save your breath…You’ll need it to blow up your date. You’re so dumb you sit on the television and watch the couch. Even when you’re alone, you’re in bad company. Learn from your parents’ mistakes – use birth control! Converse with any plankton lately? Oops, sorry… I’ll start being nicer, if you’ll start being smarter.

By the way, with the economy so bad, have you considered suing your brains for malpractice (you might make a nickle)? From every comment of yours I’ve read at Mediaite, it’s apparent to me that you’re the kind of person who can say absolutely nothing – and mean it. Perhaps your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others. I bet you get bullied a lot.

What you are lacking in intelligence, you more than make up for in stupidity. Don’t feel bad. A lot of people have no intelligence. But the good news is it seems that your inferiority complex is fully justified.

You must be reincarnated — no one could get that dumb in just one lifetime. I heard on this very site that you paid $500 to have your family tree searched just to find out you were the sap.

The fact that no one understands you doesn’t mean you’re an artist. I’m not being rude. You’re just insignificant. You never post a comment without subtracting from the sum of human knowledge.

By the way, this is an excellent time for you to become a missing person. How many times do I have to flush before you go away?

I’m busy now. I’ll come back and ignore you at some other time.

The Real Royal King – What are you? Flypaper for freaks!? All you can get is cardboard cutouts like nutso to try to compete with you? My sympathies.
