Jon Stewart Reams GOP For Hillary Clinton Grilling, Dems For ‘Ass-Licky’ Fawning
Jon Stewart took on the particularly confrontational Wednesday testimony of outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi last September. Stewart found Republicans to be too over-zealous and repetitive in their questioning of Clinton, while mocking the Democrats on the House and Senate committees for fawning over Clinton like they were “fishing for restaurant recommendations.”

After briefly mentioning the “Benghazi flu” controversy that kept Clinton from testifying to Congress a few weeks ago, Stewart highlighted how Clinton got a lot of harsh questions from House and Senate Republicans, including some who suggested she should have been fired. Stewart said that Clinton and the State Department are not blameless, but all the wrong questions are being asked.
Not only that, but Stewart also found that the GOP was being very repetitive, as many members were trying to drive home the same exact points, which led Stewart to dub them the “No Shit Sherlock committee hearings.” But Clinton managed to deflect all the finger-pointing and bring the blame all the way over to Congress. Stewart called Clinton the Magneto of finger-pointing.
But it wasn’t just Republicans who missed an opportunity for a serious hearing, Stewart found the Democrats questioning Clinton to be too “ass-licky,” comparing their fawning to a marriage proposal. Stewart was bewildered at how some Democrats treated the hearings lik an “interview for a future position” in a Clinton political campaign.
