Mitt Romney Clinches NH Win: ‘Tonight We Celebrate, Tomorrow We Go Back To Work’

Mitt Romney was almost instantaneously projected the winner of the New Hampshire primary today, with a double-digit lead on Rep. Ron Paul. After the late-night win last week in Iowa– an eight-vote difference between himself and Rick Santorum— this comfortable win was well-received by Romney, who used his speech to plea with the people of South Carolina to finally seal the deal.

“Tonight we made history,” he told the crowd, arguing that President Obama provided “a lot of change, but hasn’t offered much hope.” He criticized President Obama for looking out at America and being “proud to announce it could be worse.” “What defines us as Americans is our unwavering conviction that it must be better and it will be better,” he announced, “we still believe in that shining City on the Hill.”

Concluding that American is “better than the failed leadership of one man,” He asked South Carolinians to make 2012 “the year he runs out of time.” “I stand ready to lead us down a different path.” Making sure to highlight that we are “one nation, under God, he emphasized that “our campaign isn’t about replacing the president, it’s about saving the soul of America.” “This president puts his faith in government; we put our faith in the American people,” he concluded.
