O’Reilly and Laura Ingraham Blast Dem Gov. O’Malley for Startling Race Remarks

Laura Ingraham joined Bill O’Reilly on Thursday night to slam Maryland governor Martin O’Malley for saying on the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington “the lives of people of color are too often valued less than the lives of white people.” O’Reilly called O’Malley out, saying he “throws the bombs” but never backs them up or comes on shows like his to explain himself.

Ingraham said the basic message of O’Malley’s statement was that Republicans and conservatives don’t care about minorities or “value black life in general,” calling O’Malley’s comment “pathetic” and “divisive.” O’Reilly agreed, but did credit O’Malley for one small thing he got right: how the media covers black issues. O’Reilly said no one on TV ever talks about black crime or urban violence, but the second a “rich white heiress” goes missing or gets killed, everyone jumps on top of it.

Ingraham attributed that to sensationalism, not racism, but O’Reilly insisted if the media really cared about black deaths, “they would cover it” and would be pushing for solutions. Ingraham also lamented how none of the speakers at the anniversary event addressed abortion rates in the black community.
