Young people mature at their own rate, and one of the best ways to judge the intelligence of a candidate is by listening to him speak. Obama speaks like an intelligent person. In spite of the 57 states slip, and the other erroneous mistakes some people love to quote, he’s obviously a smart guy. Just listen to him say the word “nuclear”. He doesn’t insert stray letters or syllables! And don’t give me that “regional dialect” bullshit. When someone says “Let me axe you a question, that’s not dialect either. It’s lazy, ignorant and careless speech. Obama doesn’t do that. Lots of us were pissed when he did some seemingly stupid things during the healthcare debate, but it eventually proved out. The Obama people had the real birth certificate all along.  Two things happened before they released it.  First, the media starting calling anyone who questioned the Hawaii short form a racist.  Second, people began to note that states have the right to stipulate which form– long or short is required for inclusion on the ballot to elect Electoral College electors.  The Hawaiian short-form does not automatically meet the requirement for inclusion onto the Alabama ballot.  Not that Alabama is a contested state, but legislators in Hawaii do not control the standards for ballot access in Alabama, or any other state.

Witholding the long form birth certificate while people were being called racists for demanding to see it was harmful to our democracy and our society.

You CAN’T  see a birth certificate because Hawaii WASN’T ISSUING BIRTH CERTIFICATES at the time of Obama’s birth.  What they DID issue was a certificate of live birth which is what he has produced.  There are also two birth announcement clippings from the two Hawaiian newspapers and results of an interview with a doctor/nurse who was present when he was born.
