Sean Spicer: Trump ‘Has Confidence’ In Comey Despite His Tweet About ’Free Pass’ To Clinton
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer indicated on Wednesday that President Donald Trump still has faith in James Comey, even after the chief executive claimed on Twitter that the FBI director gave Hillary Clinton a “free pass.”
OANN’s Trey Yingst asked, “Yesterday, the President Tweeted that FBI Director James Comey gave Hillary Clinton a ‘free pass for many bad deeds.’ Is the President comfortable having a FBI director that gives out free passes serve during his administration?”
“The President has confidence in the director,” Spicer said. “But I think, clearly, his point was, after some of the comments that were made yesterday regarding the reason for the outcome of the election, I think he just wanted to make it clear what exactly happened.”
Mr. Trump was obviously reacting to Clinton’s interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Tuesday, where she asserted that she was winning until Director Comey’s October 28, 2016 letter to Congress, along with the Wikileaks document dumps.
