TIME‘s Joe Klein, Vowing Washington ‘Just Too Ugly For Words’ Unveils Massive 2012 Plans: ‘Road Trip!’

video

A lot of Washington reporters love covering politics from, you know, Washington. But TIME‘s Joe Klein has pretty much had it up to here with DC, and–since the 2012 election seems to be nearing full-swing status–he’s got a better idea, that combines finding stories and escaping the Capital. “Washington is just too ugly for words. The rest of the world isn’t much of a bargain, either. I’m feeling the need to get outta here, hit the road, talk to actual people. And so–you knew it was coming–another road trip!”

In a video posted on the TIME website, Klein explains his plans–and how you, average American, can help him out (no, we don’t think he means letting Klein bunk in your place–at least, we don’t think so). The big event, dubbed “Joe’s Road Trip 2011″, (and it comes complete with a Twitter account, @JoeKleinTIME and a hashtag to follow the action: #JoeRoadTrip) will take the bearded political scribe from from Laredo, Texas to North Dakota, with a final stop in Minneapolis. “If you’re living somewhere along my general route, and you know someone really admirable or interesting I should meet–or maybe you want to introduce me to your co-workers or extended family–get in touch. We’ll try to schedule it.”

Watch Klein’s kickoff video here, from TIME:

“Republican Candidate” Extends Lead vs. Obama to 47% to 39%
Margin marks first statistically significant lead among registered voters
    by Jeffrey M. Jones

PRINCETON, NJ — Registered voters by a significant margin now say they are more likely to vote for the “Republican Party’s candidate for president” than for President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, 47% to 39%. Preferences had been fairly evenly divided this year in this test of Obama’s re-election prospects.

Yeah, Kingy, everyone’s stoopid but you big guy. Joe’s realized that Obama is losing and losing it, and he doesn’t want to have to support a loser. The rats are fleeing the ship, Kingy, why not join them.

You don’t understand the creative mind do you? I suppose most people are destined for mundane lives.

For Joe’s sake, I hope he is able to learn something about Americans on his journey. Breaking away from the elitists can only be a good thing for him. Time after time he has illustrated how disconnected he is from the rest of us and this might be just the thing to educate him.
From my experience it is very difficult to expand the horizons of someone so deeply entrenched such as Joe, but we’ll see if he is able to accept that the country is much more than NY, LA, San Francisco and DC elitists.

Creative mind? Really? He steals Sarah Palin’s (someone you and I agree on) bus idea thingy and THIS is considered creative? Joe is a bias media hack (even you have to admit Joe is not a “reporter” or “journalist” with no dog in the hunt) who’s life’s blood (print media) is dying and he steals an idea from someone he considers beneath him, and THAT is “creative”?

  • timzank

Who’s creative mind, Kingy, yours or Joe’s. Both are fictionally creative, that’s for sure. Joe’s gonna come back with a total denigration of the idiots in middle America (by his terms anyway) , because they’re not going to take to his New York bullshit very well, and either ignore or embarrass him. And you’re creative mind is always on display here, you may want to be a little less creative and find some humility and factual information instead of the crap you spew. Love you, have a great day.

Nice… if I am not mistaken wasn’t it a Times Editor who recently characterized Middle Americans as having Low Sloping Foreheads? Yeah he is going to fit right in, maybe that is what the cowboy hat is for, he doesn’t want to give away to the mentally challanged the fact that he has a full cranial cavity

That is why Obama has made an ever increasingly move to the middle… He may not be a good president but by no means is he a fool… He is finally ceding to the advice of Clinton and is now making that move in most public platform, that if the debt crisis, save for his calls to tax the very wealthy, and of course the evil oil companies Obama today sounded more like Paul Ryan than he did Nancy Pelosi, or even for that matter Barak Obama… He is doing this at the expense of angering the progressive side the Democratic party but hopes they will understand his move to garner the support of the independents that he so desperately needs in his bid for re-election. Like I said earlier he is beginning to sound more like a republican than a democrat.

Joe says: “Washington is just too ugly for words. The rest of the world isn’t much of a bargain, either. I’m feeling the need to get outta here, hit the road, talk to actual people. And so–you knew it was coming–another road trip!”

Translation: “I am tired of people ridiculing my lack of intelligence. I’m not that stupid. I went to college — wanna see my transcript, I have it right here. Oh, sorry, that’s not mine…. I need to talk to real people who don’t know about all the stupid stuff I’ve written. The people in the heartland are dumshits, so I should fit right in…. What? They’re not all ignorant hillbillies? In that case maybe I will go on a world tour instead.”

Maybe, but there was a Time reporter who claimed that he was an expert on the US Constitution. It was a fisking holiday for bloggers, with mistakes in nearly every paragraph.

This tiresome movie-we’ve-seen-before: Leftist media hack decides to flee the bubbles that are Washington and the Bos-Wash corridor. He flees to the ‘heartland’ to selectively cherry-pick the 3% of the population who (still) ‘adore’ Obamo. Then he’ll report that ‘adoration for Obamo is widespread.’

    This is massively obvious.

  • writer

Nothing people in the heartland like better than talking to an east coast snob who looks down on them.

  • J Baustian

Klein wants to write another book or even a screenplay. Maybe then people will not make fun of him.

You’re not going to get an argument from me. I can’t stand Klein. Don’t trust anything he writes.
