CNN Anchors Crack Up Laughing Over Trump Rival’s Song Choice At Rally

CNN anchors John Berman and Kate Bolduan cracked up over an odd choice of warm-up music for Trump rival Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) at a rally in a state that’s not mentioned in the song.

Campaign music often becomes emblematic for presidential candidates — sometimes above the objections of the artists who created it.

On Thursday’s edition of CNN News Central, Berman pointed out a different kind of snag as he segued from a Steve Contorno report at a DeSantis rally in New Hampshire — during which Lynyrd Skynyrd’s anthem “Sweet Home Alabama” bared in the background:

KATE BOLDUAN: Steve, you’re following Ron DeSantis today. What’s his strategy as they not head into this sprint, into this final stretch before Iowa?

STEVE CONTORNO: Okay. He’s going to have an event in New Hampshire right behind me. They’re setting up for right now. He’ll be speaking in about an hour…

(“Sweet Home Alabama” plays throughout hit)

…This is a more of a pick up of of campaign events for him. We have not seen other of the former president on the campaign trail at this sort of pace, but it just stressing the urgency that we’re seeing here. And he is out there trying to remind his voters, yes, we are in the lead, but you have to vote, Kate.

KATE BOLDUAN: Absolutely. So you can turn out in New Hampshire for us. Thank you, John.

JOHN BERMAN: I wonder if they’re gonna play Freebird.

KATE BOLDUAN: I DEMAND it!

JOHN BERMAN: I do want to note that New Hampshire is not Alabama–.

KATE BOLDUAN: WHAT?

JOHN BERMAN: And Ron DeSantis is not from Alabama.

KATE BOLDUAN: WHAT?!?

JOHN BERMAN: It’s just an interesting choice of music.

KATE BOLDUAN: LAUGHS.

JOHN BERMAN: I’m just going to say that. Beyond that, we’re talking about these candidates trying to run against Donald Trump.
