‘A F**k You To Trump!’ Biden Donors Dance On Trump Hotel’s Grave After Winter Meeting

High-powered donors to President Joe Biden’s campaign celebrated the demise of the Trump International DC after a meeting at its former site, with one saying “This is like a ‘fuck you’ to Trump!”

During the Trump years, the Trump International was a focal point of the MAGA universe, a magnet for media attention and controversy, and a point of pride for then-President Donald Trump, who often bragged about the property.

But it has been about a year-and-a-half since the Trump signage came down amid the hotel’s sale to Miami-based CGI Merchant Group for $375 million, and it has since been transformed into the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC.

Apparently, it has also become a hotspot for Democrats reclaiming the turf from the previous denizens. And according to a West Wing Playbook item by Lauren Egan, Myah Ward, Benjamin Johansen, and Daniel Lippman, there’s no shortage of glee over the change:

As members of President JOE BIDEN’s national finance committee filtered out of their winter meeting at the Waldorf Astoria in downtown Washington, they could hardly contain their glee.

“This is like a ‘fuck you’ to Trump,” said one donor Thursday afternoon, slinging a canvas Biden campaign tote bag over his shoulder before heading into JOSÉ ANDRÉS’ lobby restaurant, The Bazaar, for some champagne.

“The expression that a couple of people used was, ‘We’ve turned Trump Tower blue,’” said CHIP FORRESTER, a member of the Biden finance committee who attended the Thursday meeting.

“It wasn’t lost on anyone that just a few short years ago this was jam packed full of Trump supporters,” said another person who attended the finance meeting.

Perhaps sweeter than the schadenfreude might be the fundraising results thus far, which saw Biden ending the third quarter with more cash on hand than the entire GOP field — and more than twice as much as Trump.
