‘BULLSH*T’: Liberals Melt Down After CBS’s Margaret Brennan Asks Hakeem Jeffries Questions — ‘Like a Newsmax Host’
Progressives on social media have spent the hours since CBS News anchor Margaret Brennan interviewed House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) on Sunday morning’s edition of Face the Nation in a state of mass agitation.
During their conversation, Brennan grilled Jeffries over his claim that President Donald Trump is attempting to rig the 2026 midterms, making note of Democrats’ own efforts to draw favorable congressional district maps when Jeffries stood by his past remarks on the topic.
The exchange was adversarial, but also hardly out of the ordinary.
Nevertheless, some on the left were more than a little displeased by the tenor of the interview, and many were quick to blame Bari Weiss, the former New York Times editor and Free Press founder who was recently named editor-in-chief of CBS News, for Brennan’s audacity.
“Really shameful from @margbrennan,” declared Keith Olbermann. “Never talked like that to any MAGA liars she’s platformed but happy to do it to Jeffries in an attempt to get Bari Weiss to NOT fire her.”
“Is this really Margaret Brennan – normally calm & astute – or a Bari Weiss feigning indignation?” asked former New York City public advocate and defeated Mayoral candidate Mark Green. “She/they compared Rs who deny Biden won in 2020 + redrawing TX maps mid-decade bc Trump called Abbott…w/.Newsom RESPONDING since unilateral disarmament is suicidal.”
“I hope you impressed your new boss BARI WEISS with this Sunday. Maybe they let you keep your job,” wrote Don Winslow. “Because without your reputation that is ALL you will have. I don’t see you questioning Republicans like this. I am embarrassed for you.”
“Scary,” commented Kaivan Shroff. “After Bari Weiss’s takeover of CBS, Margaret Brennan sounds like a Newsmax host in this interview with Hakeem Jeffries.”
