Pro-Trump student organizer and MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk has raised eyebrows in recent days with a series of tweets that ranged from a call to end all legal immigration from the “third world” to sharing a clip of an all white town and “wondering” why it is so “placid, lovely, and orderly.”

Kirk has stirred controversy in the past with some of his comments, including his campaign against Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Act – as well as questioning if Black pilots are “qualified” to fly.

On Monday, Kirk shared a clip from NFL correspondent Annie Agar enjoying a day in “small town USA.” Kirk shared Agar filming herself surrounded by Americana and captioned it, “I wonder why America’s small towns are so placid, lovely, and orderly. It’s a total mystery.”

Fans of Kirk’s replied with comments like, “Demographics,” “Am I allowed to say why?” and “I love ya Charlie but this is blatant racism lol” – making clear they understood the dog-whistle loud and clear. Critics, however, were quick to note that the town was actually a suburb of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Former Republican Congressman Justin Amash replied to Kirk, “This is Rockford, Michigan, which is a suburb of Grand Rapids, and part of the congressional district I represented. Rockford voted for Biden over Trump in 2020 and Harris over Trump in 2024. I didn’t vote for any of those candidates. Just reporting the facts.”

The same day, Kirk also posted, “It’s time to ban third world immigration, legal or illegal. We’ve reached our limit and we have a huge cultural, educational, housing, financial, and essential services problem to fix now because of it. We need a net-zero immigration moratorium with a ban on all third worlders.”

Kirk’s post came in reply to fellow MAGA influencer Matt Walsh’s post, which read, “Ban all third world immigration. Legal or illegal. There should be a moratorium on all immigration from the third world. We’ve reached our capacity. We cannot be the world’s soup kitchen anymore.”

“Wait, are you telling me the anti-immigration thing was just standard garden-variety racism the whole time? I feel so surprised, and hurt, and betrayed. I never in a million years imagined this would be the case,” replied political commentator Noah Smith sarcastically.

Other critics of the post were quick to point out the number of doctors and other essential workers who immigrate to the U.S. from countries like India, while some took jabs at both President Donald Trump and JD Vance for marrying immigrants.

Kirk also drew anger from critics by posting to his over 5 million followers, “Multiculturalism is a failure.” Some other bomb-throwing posts from Kirk in recent days include a short segment he did on the president of Mexico, which he titled, “Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is a bigger threat to America than Vladimir Putin.”
