Daily Caller Fires Reporter Who Ilhan Omar Told to ‘F*ck Off’ in Viral Video
Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) reporter Myles Morell was riding high last week after a viral video of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) telling him to “fuck off” briefly made him a hero in online MAGA circles. This week, he’s unemployed.
DCNF reportedly fired him on Wednesday, according to The Bulwark.
Morell’s final week on staff was marked by his rebuttal from Omar after he pressed her about El Salvador deportee Kilmar Abrego Garcia and after he helped organize what was billed as “the official celebration of President Trump’s first 100 days” two days prior to that, on April 29.
The lavish-sounding affair promised access to Trumpworld elites and tickets ran up to $2,500 for a white-tie event supposedly at the Kennedy Center. But President Donald Trump scheduled a rally in Michigan that same night, and the Kennedy Center canceled the contract. The event was downgraded to an Arlington venue with less sparkle and more chaos.
Organizers Morell and Alysia McMillan still pushed ahead, asking comped guests to BYOB while promising “premium drinks.”
According to Instagram messages viewed by The Bulwark, one vendor warned Morell it was turning into a “Fyre Festival–style debacle.”
No members of Congress showed. Trump didn’t either. The biggest act was reportedly a man breakdancing with a puppet wearing a pussyhat. Arlington GOP chair Matthew Hurtt dubbed it a “textbook grifter operation,” calling Morell an “archetypal goober.”
McMillan stood by the show: “I’m seeing people dancing around, smiling, having fun.”
In a comment to Mediaite, the DCNF said: “We don’t comment on personnel matters but I can confirm it definitely had nothing to do with him being abused by Ilhan Omar for trying to do his job as a reporter.”
