Freed Hostage Edan Alexander Tells Trump Hamas Started Treating Him Better Right After Election

Freed Hamas hostage Edan Alexander says it was “noticeable” how much his treatment by his captors improved after President Donald Trump was elected in November.

The moment came as Alexander, 21, visited the White House on Thursday, meeting Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in the Oval Office.

When Trump suggested Alexander’s treatment by Hamas improved “immediately” after his 2024 election victory over Kamala Harris, Alexander agreed.

“It was noticeable,” Alexander told Trump. “It was definitely noticeable.”

Alexander was 19 years old and serving in the Israeli military when Hamas militants abducted him during the Oct. 7, 2023, terror strike in Israel.

On May 11, Trump announced that Alexander was to be released from captivity in Gaza.

“I am happy to announce that Edan Alexander, an American citizen who has been held hostage since October 2023, is coming home to his family,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “I am grateful to all those involved in making this monumental news happen.”

At the time, Alexander was the last living American held by Hamas.
