Top Trump Officials Huddling at White House Ahead of Potential House Vote On Epstein Files: CNN

CNN reported that top officials in President Donald Trump’s administration are huddling at the White House on Wednesday to address a potential House vote on a discharge petition to release files related to late child sex predator Jeffrey Epstein.

Dana Bash first reported the news on Inside Politics, not long after new Epstein documents were released to the public. Among the new files are Epstein-written emails referencing Trump by name multiple times, which were released by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt accused Democrats of pushing a “fake narrative” with the emails to “embarrass” the president.

“CNN has learned there will be a meeting today inside the White House as aides try to manage a potential House vote on the release of the Epstein files,” Bash reported. “This comes, of course, just hours after Democrats on the Oversight Committee released emails from Jeffrey Epstein himself mentioning Donald Trump by name multiple times.”

CNN correspondent Katelyn Polantz added, citing sources, that FBI Director Kash Patel, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will be part of the White House meeting. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) will also reportedly be involved in the meeting as she is one of the Capitol Hill Republicans who has called for a full release of Epstein files.

The House is expected to have enough votes to pass the discharge petition after Arizona representative-elect Adelita Grijalva is sworn in on Wednesday.

Epstein, a former friend of the president’s, died of an apparent suicide in 2019 while being charged with sex trafficking. His longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving 20 years for sex trafficking.

ABC News also reported on Wednesday about the White House meeting with Boebert, and Leavitt was asked about Boebert’s involvement during a press conference the same day.

“Doesn’t it show transparency that members of the Trump administration are willing to brief members of Congress whenever they please?” she said. “Doesn’t that show our level of transparency? Doesn’t it show the level of transparency when we are willing to sit down with members of Congress and address their concerns?”
