Trump Delights in Spilling the Tea on Democrats’ Drama: ‘Who the Hell Is Leading?’

President Donald Trump took a few moments to delight in drama over on the other side of the aisle, asking at one point “who the hell” exactly is in charge of the Democratic Party amid the partial government shutdown.

At a Cabinet meeting at the White House on Thursday,, the president blasted Democrats over the ongoing shutdown, predicting Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will soon retire due to unpopularity, as well as taking some shots at Reps. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Trump said:

Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries and the congressional Democrats are holding the entire federal government hostage. I will tell you, a lot of Democrats want to get this thing open too. They do. They’re calling us, and they want it. They just want to just get it open. And all we’re doing is saying, just play the same thing until we get it straight. They, they don’t know how to go about it. I mean, and the problem is we really don’t know who the hell is leading the Democrats.

The president then mentioned Ocasio-Cortez getting slapped down after suggesting Republicans come to her office to negotiate on the shutdown.

“I saw some Republican members of Congress saying, ‘Oh, well, if we have this shutdown, it’s because of AOC.’ Well, if that’s the case, my office is open and you are free to walk in and negotiate with me directly,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Democrats are currently standing firm on getting extensions for Affordable Care Act subsidies in the funding fight.

Pelosi dismissed the idea of Republicans negotiating with Ocasio-Cortez.

“She is not directing this. She’s wonderful, she’s a real team player, and the rest of that. You started by saying Republicans say that she’s directing this. She is not,” the former House Speaker said.

On Thursday, Trum mocked Pelosi, but also argued that she was the only Democrat to “challenge” Ocasio-Cortez.

He said:

You have this AOC, I don’t know her at all, but I watched her the other day. She said, well, if they want, they could come to my office. That’s not leadership, you know. The only one that challenged her, actually, was Nancy Pelosi, and Nancy’s not looking too good. I don’t know what happened to Nancy, but she’s not looking great. But she was the only one, I give her credit, she was the only the challenger. But AOC said that they can come to her office and negotiate the Republicans. And we say, oh, I didn’t know she was in leadership.

Trump predicted, however, that Ocasio-Cortez and others will soon be pushing out older Democrats like Schumer, and perhaps even Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

“She’s taking Hakeem Jeffries’s place, and Schumer’s afraid that she’s going to run against him. And right now, I don’t know, he can change, life is crazy, right?” he said. “But right now he can’t beat, I don’t think he can beat anybody. So he’ll lose in a primary. I would say he’ll retire before he loses in a primary. So I think Schumer’s gonna retire because he can’t beat anybody. His pulse is so bad.”
