Trump Draws Laughter And Cheers At Prayer Event By Falsely Claiming ‘We Won Three Times!’
President Donald Trump drew laughter and cheers from faith leaders and administration officials when he falsely claimed “We won three times” at a prayer event.
The president has spent years falsely claiming the 2020 election was “rigged” against him, but has added a new wrinkle to the mythology in recent months by claiming that he is now serving his “third term” because he was the true victor in three elections.
But in 2020 President Joe Biden defeated Trump in an electoral landslide that has been reaffirmed over and over by state officials from Trump’s own party
Trump gave remarks and trotted out a series of guest stars at a National Day of Prayer Event on Thursday in the Rose Garden of the White House, including an anecdote in which he name-checked former GOP presidential rival Dr. Ben Carson.
He then made the claim about winning three times before calling Dr. Phil up to the lectern:
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: He said it once again in the church. Remember that, Ben?
He pulled me over. He said, “Remember what I told you, God is with you.”.
And we went on to win– three times we won.
(LAUGHTER, CHEERS).
We won the first time. We did great the second time. We won the second time, everybody knows it.
But we made it too big to rig the third time. Too big to rig… They tried! They tried!
(APPLAUSE)
So, I want to thank Ben, who has been with me right from the beginning. You’re an amazing person. And you gave us a great recommendation in this young gentleman who’s doing a fantastic job. But, HUD, thank you very much. Really good.
Also, we have Dr. Phil McGraw. Where’s Dr. Phil? Oh, you are so big. Come here, come here, Phil.
This guy.
